Hi guys, i'm having a problem in the display options. I can't make the game to use my Nvidia card because it won't show up in the device options, it lists the integrated Intel card as the only graphic device. Forcing the game through nvidia control panel doesn't work either.
i'm using a notebook, the specs are:

OS: Windows 8.1
Processor: Intel core i5
RAM: 8gb ddr3
Graphic card: Nvidia GT 635M - 2GB

Thanks in advance.
Shouldn't your notebook have an option to disable integrated graphics in the BIOS?

No, i can't do it in the BIOS, already tried. However, i can disable it through device manager, but when i try to play the game, it crashes on startup. There should be a way to select what device the game may use
Best guess:

Go into the masquerade.ini file within the main VTMR directory. Under [render] set the "useDevice" to 1 rather than 0.

Thanks, but i've already done that. If i don't select "read only" in the ini properties, it would set it back to 0, and even if i do that, the only device it shows is the Intel HD. I've been searching for days and it appears i am the only one with that problem. The game is not unplayable, but it slows down when more than 5 characters are on screen and sometimes it's very annoying, especially during combat.
What kind of Notebook do you have? Perhaps there's known issues related to the Notebook in question.

I have an ASUS N56V. Every company configures their notebooks different, so maybe you're right and there is a problem with this one.
It doesn't appear the issue is specific to Redemption

Yeah, i know these video card models for notebooks are troublesome. I played Shadows of Mordor on this notebook, and although it works only in low settings, it does recognise the video card. Back to Redemption, after forcing antialiasing through nvidia control panel, it seems to recognize it, but i don't understand why, even without forcing antialias, vsync or anisotrophic it continues to play at 15-20 fps during combat. I mean, the 635M is not powerful, but it should run this game at 60 fps stable.
Also, there was a problem with the .exe of Redemption when using nvidia control panel. The thing is, i have both Bloodlines and Redemption installed, and both executables are called "Vampire.exe" so whenever i changed something in Bloodlines control panel settings, it did the same to Redemption. I just renamed the executable of Redemption to "Vampire2.exe"
I have this exact same problem on my MSI GT70 from 2013. Doesn't appear to be any solution :( As far as I can tell it's still playable (with major frame drops when snazzy effects like vampire deaths occur) but the lighting looks a bit messed up compared to when I ran it on my desktop (which let me disable onboard in the BIOS) - everything seems a lot darker, like the shadows are covering almost everything.

Really annoying all the same :(
