Playing with the Plus Patch 9.9, I can't do Gary's side quests for the posters. He asks for the Tzismice flesh ball, but never picks it up and won't ask for anything else while he's waiting for that. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to wait for the next update to get the posters? Can I get the posters by using the console? Does anyone else have this problem?

It's possibly related to the variable for the ball. Check G.Ball_Taken in the console - it should have been set to 1 when you picked the ball up.

If it's not set to 1, enter G.Ball_Taken 1 to set it - hopefully this will get Gary to remove the ball and advance the quest (probably will need to enter another area for this to take effect).

If the G.Ball_Taken is already correct, check G.Gary_Imalia as well - it should be set to 0, if not set it to 0.

Once both variables are correct, leaving the area containing your current mailbox should trigger the quest continuing.

BTW did you update the patch and reload an existing save? I believe there were some issues with the Tzimisce ball that Wesp adjusted recently, so it could have borked an existing save.

I've only been using version 9.9. How do I check and/or set those variables? I'm not super familiar with the console commands.

There was a related bug in the first version of 9.9. To repair it, go to the main menu, open the console with the "~" key and then just type "G.Ball_Taken = 1" (without the quotes).

Okay, that doesn't seem to be working. I gave it time, went to other areas and even advanced the plot after putting that in, and it's still not doing anything. The ball just sits there in my mail box. I even tried taking it out and putting it back in and then going to another area and coming back; no good.

Hm, so what is the current value of that variable on your system? Just type G.Ball_Taken and post the result.

G.Ball_Taken returns 3.

G.Gary_Imalia returns 0.

Oh, yeah; I think I see what I did wrong. I already decided to go ahead and finish that run, but if (more like when) it happens on the current game I'll try that. Be a little while before I get back there though.

I had the same problem.
1. Flesh Ball found
2. The search for Nosferatu interrapted, apartments visited
3. Letter from Gary received
4. Flesh ball was placed into the box, but not accepted
5. I went back to the sewers and met Gary
6. Flesh ball was accepted finally :)

Wait, so you got the email from Gary BEFORE meeting him? That would explain things, since you're not supposed to receive emails from him before you meet him in person...

Yes, this was a bug that is fixed in the current version of 9.9, but I think it was in the first final...

Cool! Good to know I won't encounter it next time I play then. I've been meaing to try out those new alternate paths you put in there since last time I played, plus go with the Anarchists this time to check out the hotel etc.
