Kamma999: HI all,
I recently got this game. When I start it up though the video in the company logo/intro movie keeps breaking up every second, it's all glitchy. The actual gameplay works fine, but anything that is a video is all glitchy and breaks up.
I'm using windows 8. Can someone please help me to get it so that video plays fine in this game?

Signothorn: Interesting issue, haven't heard of that. I'm running W8 and it's running like a dream, so that's not likely the culprit. Might be some kind of direct x issue, idk. Might try right-clicking on the desktop shortcut and going to properties. In the properties menu, go to the shortcut tab. In the "target" line, add -"dx90" at the end. So for example, it could read "c://programfiles/vampire the masquerade redemption/vampire.exe -dx90".

Regardless of whether this smooths the video out, it'll make the game look much sharper :)
I might be suffering from similar issue. When the game runs, the game itself runs fast but the videos of intro/wodarkness freeze and run slow. Is there anything I can do to make the videos run faster/smooter without freeze. The gameplay videos run normal. Its just the movies.
Personally, I gave up on those binks. You can actually delete them and the game will have no issue with it. The files are located in the Video folder within the VTMR install directory.

I personally dislike the clunky shift in resolution when you're playing the game in 1080p and the binks want to play in 640x480 with horrid compression quality. If you want the nostalgia and play them anyway, best to just use Bink & Smacker video player here:

Would be nice if someone could figure out how to make new animations for the in-game graphics and just have the 3d gameplay cutscenes replace the icky binks.
I did a little searching for bik stuttering issues not related to Redemption and some have also fixed the problem by disabling any cpu throttling programs or power saving functions in the bios. Idk if this will help, but it's worth posting.
i have the same problem.. i changed the BINKW32.DLL but it didnt worked anyway with some verrtions i saw the videos but without audio.. if anyone have an idea pleas let me know ..
I have the same issue. Windows 8.1 x64 here. For me, only the videos on startup are affected. the ones that come after I start a new game work without problems.

Then you might try simply deleting the intro and logo bik files in the video folder and see if that helps.

Thanks for the hint. I just wanted to point out that the stuttering vids don't turn out to be that big of a deal at all. ;)
I'm also having this issue, unfortunately.
Hey guys, one user found the solution in another thread, there's an image with a link to a binkw32.dll there. I can assure you that it works. Search for the "Jittery videos" thread, gog won't let me post the link. Have fun :D
