Hello to everybody.

I'd like to play my custom MP3 playlist inside the game and I learn about this mod - uMp3.
I found it on the site modlink.net (this page) and downloaded it but it seems to me it doesn't work.

To be clear: every time I launch the executable it looks like it is trying to upgrade the game to version 1.3 (the game downloaded from GOG is version 1.6) and nothing else.
I already tryed to create a correct playlist and place all the files into Uplink directory but nothing happens: AFAIK there should be an in-game, dedicated button on the interface to open the MP3 player and choose a playlist to play (or something similar).

Anybody knows about uMp3 and/or already run this mod sucessfully?

Well I'm willing to hack this and help you figure it out :)

First I'm not sure about MP3's, since all the music is MOD's (think of them as midi files that include their own soundfonts), however since you are pointing to a MOD's site that might work just fine.

Anyways second the music.dat file is actually a zip file, however noted from 7zip it doesn't appear to be compressed so it's just a directory (mod files include their own compression of their soundfonts so additional compression is silly).

Beyond simply replacing/adding files to the music.dat file I'm not sure, but I'm sure we'll figure this out soon.
Going over and attempting to run the mods, it seems like it's suppose to modify the game for 1.3, and without explanation for modding UpLink, or it's structure, the other mods aren't much use either. Interesting, and a little sad...
