I need an advice, I like to support the Drm free movement, but in my opinion the use of keys is a form of DRM,. the saga on steam is much more cheaper and includes the entire saga. if all games requieres key, I have no reason to support GOG.com with this saga. you what would you do in my place?.

$ 10 all series on steam. (DRM full)
$ 5 per game on GOG.com (are real DRM FREE?)

I hope you can help me.

It depends on how you want to play the games, as if it is just the single player element then none of them need a key. The only one that I actually requested a key from GOG support is UT2K4, as I did take that one to online multiplayer back when there was a GOG UT2K4 server.

I want to play them on both ways, I like Single player mode for Unreal Gold, Unreal 2 only for the campaing, and UT2000 and UT2004 for multiplayer. if only UT2004 requieres key then I will buy tomorrow Unreal Gold, Unreal 2 ,UT2000, Catacombs Pack, Serious Sam 1st and 2nd Encounter. I don`t like to see horrible numbers any game on my shelf. Thank you very much korell for the advice.

another question, Do you know another game to cooperative play?

Unreal, Unreal 2, UT99 dont have keys so your all fine for single and multiplayer.

UT2004 has a key but you only need to request a unique key if you want to play online it still works fine offline land no problem.

I find it a stretch to call that key as drm but thats your oppionion

Indeed, I agree, as it really is just a registry key, and it just replaces the default key in the registry from running the installer.

No worries, many here on GOG forums are happy to help where we can.

Do you mean a co-op game from GOG? What type of game? RPG, FPS, etc?

Well, I'm also a Steam user and if anything, most of my multiplayer gaming goes on via Steam. So for me, looking for co-op, I really enjoyed playing the Left 4 Dead games. If you do go for that, though, I'd recommend you only get L4D2 as over time with updates, all of the maps from the first game were added into the second game and there is an upcoming mutation called L4D1 mode that limits special infected and weapons/items to those just from the first game, meaning that L4D1 effectively becomes obsolete.

Another co-op would be Team Fortress 2 with its Mann vs Machine levels. You and a team of others face wave after wave of AI robots.

Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide (Steam) - but these are enjoyed by some, not by others. Depends on your tastes and what you are looking for.

Borderlands and Borderlands 2 (2nd game is awesome and I really need to devote more time to it - but most of my gaming with these has been single player).

You've listed Serious Sam 1st and 2nd Encounters. I'm pretty sure you can get them running in co-op.

Alien Swarm (Steam free to play provided you have a Source engine game).

Trine and Trine 2 (puzzle platformers). First one is here on GOG but I have both on Steam.

Here are some threads here on GOG talking about co-op games:

I have L4D1 and L4D2 they are great games, I love them. anyway the only thing I hate is the Sacrifice campaing. Bill was one of my favorite characters.

Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide, I thought they are single player only, if they are co-op, they will really like to me so much. co-op games are really difficult to find. Thine I have it, and is a great surprise I never thought that game can play on co-op. Borderlands and Borderlands 2, I have heard of them and I think that will be my next purchases :)

I have all valve games, I think there is no problem with the Source engine. :)

XD, XD, XD, Yes, you guessed it perfectly!, the serious sam series never called my attention, until I saw a video on youtube about the gameplay, I did not know how get there (as always it`s the magic of youtube XD). and saw two guys playing, it looked pretty fun game.

I have Steam account too. I will try to buy these the next week. I hate steam only for the DRM, but I can not lie to you, it has tasty exclusives that can twist anyone's arm. :)

Korell again thank you very much for your kindness and for your time.

That's quite alright, I'm happy to help.

And the Dead Island games are co-op, 100%. You can play them single player, but there is drop-in drop-out co-op. The Dead Island games are like Borderlands in that sense, but where Borderlands is more about your guns, Dead Island is more about your melee weapons. For me, I have played both Dead Island and Borderlands in co-op, but actually spent most of the time in single-player. If you want co-op then you really need to have some friends in mind for those games, I find, but the single player experience is still enjoyable.

I like Steam as I can deal with Steamworks DRM. However, I don't like 3rd party DRM on Steam as I just don't see the point, and as a result there are a number of games I'd like to play but refuse to get because of 3rd party DRM.

Oh, and with the Borderlands games (which I think are great fun), bear in mind that the first game was a console port to PC so does have some weaknesses such as poor FOV. There are ways around it but it isn't ideal. Also, even on Steam, the first two DLCs (Zombie Island of Dr Ned and Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot) come with SecuROM and 5 machine limit activations. :( The base game and the 3rd and 4th DLCs do not have 3rd party DRM, though, which is some good news.

Borderlands 2, on the other hand, is Steamworks only and has rectified a lot of the console port criticisms, and it has a lot more variety to it. I found Borderlands 2 to be superior in every way. I just need to put more time aside to actually play though it. :)

Thought this might come in useful for you, too, as you use Steam.
