I am really thinking about getting the game from here but ,I am wondering why is the game size on GoG alot smaller download than on steam or direct2drive? There size is 4.5gigs I am just curious that's all. All so is this exactly like the retail version? Reason why I am asking is that I can make the game into wide screen mode but I know with the steam version you cant.
Thanks

dunno, I have both steam and gog.com versions and I don't notice a difference.
Reason why i am asking this is because I have a shitty ass download limit and if i go over it my speed gets cut down to 6.5kbs.
The installers compressed.

also if you use the gog.com downloader, you can pause the download and come back to it later.
You should be able to get widescreen on the Steam version, the only real difference is the way DRM is handled.
GOG has a different way of downlading games compared to Steam or D2D, in that it's a lot like a traditional installer where you just download a file and install it without any external programs like Steam (I used the GOG downloader as well, so I could stop and resume my download and maintain file integrity). It's probably the 'purest' version compared to the other 2 and is pretty easy to back up, just burn the installer to a DVD. The only difference I've seen between this and retail is the different installer (GOG uses their own customised installer).
I should mention though, that UT2004:ECE is $14.99 on Steam and from what I can see you can only get it in a $19.99 bundle on D2D, compared to $9.99 on GOG.
The GOG version is also DRM free, which is nice.
