It has problem with your videocard, the game can't use its render functions. I don't know any solution, but you can try installing older DirectX.

The game has worked on the Gtx570 before installing Windows 10, tried Directx idea to no avail maybe it could be a driver thing, thanks for the reply

You're welcome. As for a last, you can try the 64 bit patch:

Try to copy it into the URL. Maybe I used the BB code incorrectly.

I not wanted to say that, because everyone said I don't know anything. But the Win10 is just shit, why would anyone want to use that. XD

I just switched to OpenGL then it worked. There's some line in the ini that is commented out that mentions opengl I just removed that and put an ; in front of the other.
The game runs on my Windows 10 (64 bits) but only in window mode, if I try to put it fullscreen I get a CTD and this error message:

UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2005-11-23_16.22]

OS: Windows NT 6.2 (Build: 9200)
CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 1995 MHz with 2047MB RAM
Video: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series (1129)

LockRect failed: D3DERR_DEVICELOST

History: UD3DRenderDevice::ReadPixels <- UD3DRenderDevice::Present <- UGameEngine::Draw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- Level Untitled <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop <- FMallocWindows::Free <- FMallocWindows::Realloc <- 10910191 0 FArray <- FArray::Realloc <- 0*2 <- FMallocWindows::Free

Any help/suggestion?

Hey,
Had the same issue on the steam version.
There is a fix outlined over at PCGaming wiki

Personally i followed the 64 bit patch and it worked, hope this helps :)

np m8, happy to help :)
goto

//system/ut2004.ini

search for the Section

[Engine.Engine]

RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice
;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice

ant change it to

;RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice
;RenderDevice=Engine.NullRenderDevice
RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice
;RenderDevice=PixoDrv.PixoRenderDevice

So the game uses OpenGL

if you have a 21:9 Screen search for

FullscreenViewportX=800
FullscreenViewportY=900

change it to

FullscreenViewportX=2560
FullscreenViewportY=1080

Save it and run the Game in comp mode as administrator
now the game works in 21:9 and in WIndows 10

I can´t post links full links.

Download and copy the files into UT2k4 System Folder.
UT2004.ini --> [D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]
UseCubemaps=False
Now you can play it in D3d.

About the Fullscreen Crash:
UT2004.ini --> [D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]
ReduceMouseLag=False

What's the difference for OpenGL against DirectX? Is it just using different resources and still providing the same visual quality?
