Hello... Iam having trouble with setting up dedicated server for UT2004. How to make internet game with password only for my friends who have my IP?I dont want to play over hamachi or tunngle becouse high ping and tunngle Ads...Is it enough to port forward my router? Then in game - click host game - start dedicated - when dedicated console starts, run game again - join - and connect to my server. Then give to friends my IP, that they can login (join game, internet, open ip) to my created server? Is that all procedure or i must config batch file and so on (that seems hard way). When i do that on my 2 computers in the house on same network,it works... I hope that you understand my problem and thank you for helping me... sorry about my english, greetings from Croatia :)

You don't need to run dedicated server if you want to play with just your friends.

As you said you only need to do a standard port forwarding. After that just chose the host option from the main menu. Set what you want, you can make it appear in the server browser or not.

Your friends can connect with a simple command:

open IP:PORT

We play like this everytime, it works for sure.

It is for anything you want. It creates a full server. Your friend can connect from anywhere. As I said we always play like this. The server internet and LAN accessible.

The dedicated server only means the server is signed on EPIC GAMES. It also has some plus option like the voice chat and the protocoll settings.

So if you want to play online the in-game host option is enough, believe me. :)
It works finally...thnx people :)
That is good, I'm glad I was able to help. :)

Don't forget there isn't difference between how the dedicated or the standard server works. The dedicated server has more option like port or relaying and so on, but that is all. Dedicated server is for professional and 24/7 multiplayer server, while the build-in is for ad-hoc multiplayer. Both of the servers work for online or for LAN connection.
