i loved unreal back in 1998 and return to napali back in 1999!
as a german user i played both of them in german language.

as i see, the gog version is only available in english. thats very sad for me.
is it possible to insert files from the original unreal/napali-disks to make the game german?
i really want to buy gog-version of unreal gold, but only when i sure am able to play in german.

Your Best bet is to ask support about a german translation.

support seems to work only if i own this game. and there i've got the problem.
i won't buy this game until i can be sure, there is an option to play it in german language.

two years are gone. now, gog itself is viewable in german language. but still no german files for unreal available?

If you still have the original disk or an install, yes: Look for files ending in .det (in "System" directory) and .det_aux (in "Sound" directory). These are the files for german language : The first ones are the translation strings, the second ones are the voices.
You should be able to copy them to any GOG installation. Then, to activate german language, open the file Unreal.ini in "System" directory, find a line that says Language=int and replace int by det.

This also works for other games based on Unreal engine (UT99, Rune...), and for other language : frt for French translations, etc.

thx so far. i can find .det files in system directory on my cd. but i can't find .det_aux files in sound directory.
only on "return to napali" cd i can find a subdirectory in sounds, called det. there are .uax files in it. not on unreal cd.

EDIT:

was ich auch noch empfehlen kann ist folgendes:

den inoffiziellen patch momentan aktuell v2.27i

durch dieses update kann man auch die Sprache bei installation des patches auf deutsch stellen, was sich durchs ganze spiel zieht im Menü sowie den Textnachrichten im Spiel selbst.

und dann noch die verbesserten Texturen, damit das Spiel dann auch noch aufpoliert wird

das ist so das beste was geht.
soweit es bei euch problemlos läuft könnt ihr auch noch nach dem directX 10 patch schauen, der gibt dem ganzen dann nochmal einen kleinen schub im aussehen.

kann man doch auch als free user laden, man hat dann glaube ich nur längere wartezeiten, bis man es laden kann

ich hab aber gar keinen zugang!
kann das nicht jemand, der es bereits runtergeladen hat, anderswo uploaden, wo man keinen "zugang" braucht?

sowas wie zippyshare oder sonstige alternativen, gibt diesbezüglich ja so einiges im grossen weiten netz.

hab es jetzt mal runtergeladen und neu geuppt auf meinen account.

ein erster test scheint diese fehlermeldung nicht mehr zu bringen, allerdings bin ich noch auf arbeit.
daher kann ich den download selbst erst zu hause testen, in der firma darf ich nämlich ned...
ich meld mich also nach 17:00 nochmal. dann wird ich wissen, ob der download geklappt hat.
