That sucks, and makes no sense - none of the Unreal games on GoG require a master server to be played and enjoyed. And it doesn't inspire confidence in Epic's storefront as being reliable for posterity when Epic won't allow its old and classic games to continue to be sold. Didn't realise that Epic is an enemy of game preservation.
is it just Unreal's or all other Epic branded games?
For now, Unreal series only. Time will tell if it ends on it.

They probably are planning to update and/or Remaster these games and make then make exclusive to their own store.

I doubt it, they only milk the fortnite cash cow
and it's gone, they didn't wait around.
I have downloaded and kept all the files in my removable hard drive. I won’t be surprised if they mess them up and change them to an “Enhanced” version that will be more expensive and probably not as good. You have been warned.
Hey,

I recently provided an update on the situation in this thread than was previously known, basically this is partly the FTC's doing.

this is primarily why I am on GOG; being able to backup full game installers without the need of being online to play and no launchers. I like knowing I won't need a online site or client to be able to use my games. Makes it more infinite than finite.

I'm hoping the Unreal series is eventually reinstated on GOG. It is totally unacceptable that these games are not available for purchase, especially since the community is now maintaining its own community master servers.

What a mess!

and now that original xbox has revived the online capabilities maybe somehow we could mix pc gamers with og xbox gamers servers and have unreal tourny's again.
This issue still angers me quite a bit, from what I've read it's FTC mumbo jumbo, but what now? I'm going to have to get carded just to play some UT or even Quake as if it's hard liquor or something? Do I really want to show ID to them and potentially get more screwed if they're not secure?

Why does it affect these games? They don't have in game purchases with real money. I heard they're trying to relaunch UT 3, but why should I play that? I've heard bad things about it, UT 99 and 2k4 are great as is.

And what happened to that other UT? The one on Unreal 4? The one Epic wanted the community to help build to make it just right? The one that they abandoned because they want to be the Fortnite company and nothing more? You're telling me a now giant game company can't juggle more than one franchise?

Well, okay, they do have Fall guys and Rocket league, but it still angers me.
