Been interested in this title since it showed up, but I have a couple of questions.

Firstly, the GOG gamecard page shows the version as 1.42.3 but this is a few versions behind the one on the official game site, which is 1.42.6. Is the version on GOG accurate and we are waiting for a newer GOG version?

I'm also assuming that the GOG version has the one time internet check removed? I know it is single player only at present, but if and when we do get multiplayer, how will that work with the internet check for the version from the official site?

Lastly, the official game site lists special items and weapons that you can buy with credits that you get in-game (or purchase). How do those work with the GOG version and is there anything actually missing from the GOG version?

1.42.3 is the version currently on GOG.

There is no internet check nor any need to enter in a serial number in the GOG version. The serial number you see is for unlocking the game from the official site if you so choose.

As of right now, the GOG version is missing the online challenges and thus you may be unable to get the credits necessary to get those items listed on the official site. If you want the online challenges, you can use the aforementioned serial in your My Account page to unlock the online-enabled version.

Hope that helps :D.

Thanks for this JudasIscariot, that does help. With the current sale price (which is better than the official site's pricing) I'd say you have yourself a deal (I'll be making my purchase in a moment).

Though I do hope GOG can get newer versions without too much delay. It would also be nice if there will be some way in which GOG can get multiplayer and challenges without having to use the online check, though having a key for the option to use the official site's installer is a nice option to have.
The dev is planning on including the challenges in the offline mode, (no idea about the rewards for them) in a later update.
I have been looking for the challenge items and found this thread.Where do I find the serial number in my account
page and how do I activate it?

I have been looking for the serial and haven't found it.

For some reason the developer asked GOG to remove all the serial numbers from the GOG version and he hasn't given any answer as to why.

I was very lucky in that when I bought my copy I was still able to get my serial and register it on the developer's site in order to get a Steam key, so I have it here on GOG and on Steam. However, the Steam key generation was taken down, then shortly after all the serial keys removed.

Yes, what korell said. But as far as challenges, they do exist in the GOG version without going online.
Hello, I'll clarify the serial stuff.

First of all you must know that:

1.- Unepic was a custom DRM game. You needed a serial to unlock the game online to play.
2.- First tests of multiplayer was done from the web, before Unepic came out in Steam.
3.- Unepic was published in gog a few weeks before than in Steam.

Steam keys:

Before the game was published in Steam players could not make a choice of where to purchase the game, so they did through gog. When it was finally published in Steam, I gave steam codes to those who purchased beforehand in gog.
But when Unepic was also published in Steam, players could make a choice: free DRM offline in gog, or DRM online early access in Steam. With this choice there was no longer need to give Steam keys.

Web serials:

Web serials were given to gog players so they could test the multiplayer beta in the web and play the online challenges.
Soon after it came out, online challenges were included in the gog version, recently Unepic became a DRM-free game in the web, and multiplayer beta has been removed from the web. Therefore serials are no longer needed.

Sumarising: as Unepic is now a DRM-Free game and there is nothing in the web missing in the gog version, I have removed the giving of serials.

There is one thing missing if I'm not mistaken: most - if not all - custom levels get uploaded on Steam Workshop (at least the developer itself seems to put up levels there too, and I didn't find a trace of it on the official website - did not look further), so those without a Steam key are left with begging for files or buying the game a second time just for the custom levels.
