I just installed Ultima IX on Ubuntu 12.04 on Wine, and it works, except one thing - when I open either the journal or the spellbook, the cursor disppears, so I cannot select. Specifically, I cannot select spells from the spellbook, so I cannot go past Stonegate...

I tried pulling the spells to the belt, but it didn't work either.

Any solution?

Unfortunately, this bug has been in wine for ages, and probably will not be so easily fixed.

Ultima IX uses some kind of strange "double" cursor - the cross and the arrow-like thing. But ulder wine, the Arrow-thing is not shown, and the crosshair will go below the backpack or journal...

Too bad.. Is there maybe a cheat, or another way to get out of stonegate?

Even if the cursor is not shown, it should work. So you can try to guess where the cursor is and try to click. It is flaky guesswork, but can be done.

See this Wine appdb link for more info:

Thanks! My solution is:
* Open the book
* Put one finger on the spot
* Close the book
* Q for hand-mode
* Move the cursor to the finger
* Re-open the book
* click
