Help please. When I start as a pally in Trinsic and I get the clue to see the Folly Tavern for information on mandrake the two dudes at the tavern don't recognize the inquiry after drinking an ale. How come I can't figure it out and I am tired of starting over again and again to see if they will reply correctly.

Guess I will start over as a Bard. May be that will work.

OK same ting happened with a Bard. So I tried it without the upgrade and I get the same thing, even after I gave the barkeep 50 gold. Can't figure out this one. I guess maybe I have to be a certain lvl or something like that.

Damn I can't believe that this is happening now. I tip him 50 nothing so I tip him 99 and still nothing. I am starting to think I have some kind of error. I have run between Trinsic and Paws several time trying to get the guys at the Folly to answer the question and they always tell me they don't know. What gives. Guess I will have to ask GOG.

Might find some help in walkthroughs/guides on gamefaq or other sites.

odd it worked for me when i tried it before making my response
i just went to the guy in trinsic got the clue to find info at the tavern
got a drink and tipped him 1 gold more than the cost of the drink
said mandrake when he asked what i wanted to know about
when prompted to pay for info i put in 90

just tested it again and its working fine for me as above ( Trinsic tavern btw)

Yes it has worked for me when I ran it the first time and you only need to give him 50 to get the tip. I don't know what has gone wrong but I suspect that my computer may have a bug. I have run Norton 360 twice and each time it found and removed a virus so I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it but no go. Also ran PCMatic and Zookware so I am not sure what to do now. I just played through with a bard at lvl 4 and when I got to Paws after getting the tip in Trinsic it still does the same. So now I am thinking I should go on to Ultima 5 but after playing 1-3 I would really like to get this fixed so I can do UIV.
Anyone have any suggestions?
