I am not sure if this is normal but for every time the game transitions screens, the screen glitches out a bit(with lots of smilely faces which makes it creepy). This whole thing happens when in full screen but when in window it still happens but in fast speed so its not as noticable.

Is this normal since I'm running on a modern machine?

The exact same thing happens to me. For example, when you select commend "Z" for stats, or if you enter a dungeon or town.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit.

Seems like a weird bug in DOSBOX when changing display modes. I believe Ultima 2 is the only one in the series to utilize separate text & graphics modes, likely to make full-screen text (such as the main menu & zstats) more readable on a composite monitor.

I noticed this when I installed it yesterday. I found the Exodus patch and it makes it look way better and run smoother on the new systems. After playing the updated version of the first game, the purple and blue graphics were a real bummer! The patch makes it look colorful and nice.
