As you know, right now there's a discount for the whole series. And I have the whole series, except for Ultima 9. Based on the reviews, this doesn't sound like a good game, in any sense imaginable. Most of all, I am worried about the bugs. I can cope with the break with the canon, I can somewhat cope with the shitty gameplay, but I really can't stand buggy games.

But it's only 99 cents of an EURO.

So what do you guys say, are these bugs patched by now? What is your experience with playing Ultima 9 from that point of view?

If you've played the series and you like it so far, I think it's a must to get this one for such a bargain. Just don't expect it to be the same old Ultima and you won't be disappointed as so many other fans were. It's more like Morrowind, but Ultima is almost three years older. It was a ground breaking step for 3rd person open world games and while not everything is as smooth as in newer titles, it's very well playable and I liked it. It's a good old game and the conclusion of the series, even worth playing just because of that. Though you have to bring some time as it takes some to complete the game.

As for bugs, I didn't experience a single one in my playthrough, but that could be different on another system of course. Still, I can't second it being buggy. Get it and give it a try, I think this game is heavily underrated mainly for being different from its predecessors. If you eventually don't like it, it's only 99 cents and at least you own the complete series then.

I do not like to have bad games in my collection, especially games that have bugs.
I still have 12 hours to decide. Hopefully more will chime in regarding the bugs.
There are patches that correct bugs and the terrible lore discrepancies.
U9 is one of those games that could be ok if considered as they are, but have been christened with the name of a much bigger thing that inevitably creates a certain impression about its worth.
I overslept, then went out to play with my son (it snowed really nicely these days), so I missed this opportunity.
Oh well. Saved 1 EUR. http://i.imgur.com/2cBzy.jpg
As a consolation, I got Deus Ex.

Nah. :p
One GOG user (P1na aka pineapple) is famous for doing giveaways with Deus Ex - here's an example - http://www.gog.com/forum/general/deus_ex_spread_the_love_giveaway_mk_xiii_im_at_four_star_hotel_suck_that/post1

In that case... I'd have been more happy if pineapple made me happy, not the other way around :P
You saved yourself the trouble, Ultima IX is a bad game. I'm not even that hard of a reviewer, when it comes to RPGs I'll try anything. VIII is pretty bad as well but at least it has a hellish landscape and theme to redeem it's atrocious mechanics. Instead of wasting any time playing Ultima IX, spend your days with Gothic 1-2, Summoner, Neverwinter Nights 1-2 (and the expansions) and Morrowind as well. I wouldn't even dream of spending any time on Ultima IX until experiencing those similar titles.

I bought the game with all the others during the winter sale, but with almost a 100 titles in my backlog, it'll be years before I get to this thing again.
