So I'm at the Shrine of Humility, I have the Glyph but I'm not sure about the SIgil. I've done the quests for Mariah, but the only thing I have in my inventory that's close to the sgil is a "Shepherd's Crook". It doesn't seem to work with the shrine though.

Never mind, did some backtracking (~2 hours) and am at the shrine with both glyph and sigil now. HOWEVER, I seem to consistently trigger the glyph bug (I receive no rune after the cleansing). Are there any workarounds?

Sorry to say this but IIRC, you have to keep trying until it sticks, so to speak.

You need both glyph and sigil, plus the mantra, to cleanse any shrine. One recurring problem I had on my last play-through had them both hovering way high over the cleansed shrine. I had to use the fly cheat to retrieve them.

Now if I can just find my copy of that tome they called a clue book...

Are you playing nGlide or D3D version?

D3D, as Glide didn't work (CTD on startup). I got the rune now btw, after maybe the 6th try

Still, other problems may occur, as D3D version is not capped at 30 FPS, unless you have NVidia card.
If for some reason you cannot run nGlide (integrated graphics card maybe? ) you may want to look at some unofficial patches at Ultima Codex

Unfortunately it's not out to the public yet, but Forgotten World has an upcoming 1.19H patch that fixes for good the Rune/SIgil but (where after the cleasing, they just hover high above the Shrine and can only be obtained by the fly cheat).

It should come soon (it's in beta right now), but I'm not sure when

Ah so the integrated graphics card is the problem, thanks for the heads up. I was wondering what it was with nGlide because Lands of Lore 3 also crashes on startup. I'm rather reluctant to apply community patches though
