How do I generate a new character in ultima 6 (second trilogy version)? It goes thru the process with gypsy then says a game is in progress and I need to run install. From Where do I do that? Do I have to reload whole trilogy from GoG?
Or rom ultima trilogy dos box? How do I do that?

EDIT::
How to run the "install" program with GOG's Ultima VI release.
This assumes a Windows 7/8 OS, if not I can't help you.
1. Right click on the "Ultima VI" shortcut.
2. Click on "Open file location".
3. Double click on "dosbox.exe".
4. Type "mount c .." (without the quotes) and hit Enter.
5. Type "c:" (without the quotes) and hit Enter.
6. Type "cd ultima6" (without the quotes) and hit Enter.
7. Type "install" (without the quotes) and hit Enter.
8. Hit the "h" key to "install" the game to the hard disk.
9. Hit the "c" key to "install" the game to the C: drive.
10. Hit the "5" key to choose VGA graphics.
11. Hit the "y" key to indicate that you do have a Microsoft-compatible mouse.
12. Hit the "1" key to choose AdLib sound.
13. Hit the "d" key to choose the default I/O port of 388.
14. Hit the "y" key to indicate that you've chosen the correct settings.
15. Hit the "1" key to reset the game to start a new character.
16. Close the DOSBox window by typing "exit" (without the quotes) and hitting Enter or clicking on the "X" in the upper right hand corner.
17. Double click your Ultima VI shortcut to start the game and create a new character.

Once you've run the "install" program. You may wish to simply copy the ultima6 folder to a safe location so you can just delete and restore to create new characters in the future.

From the U6 manual:

CREATING MULTIPLE CHARACTERS
The first time you play ULTIMA VI, you will have to create a character. If at some to point you wish to create another character, you must reconfigure your data disk. To do this, select Reconfigure a game from the CD Games menu and then select Ultima VI: The False Prophet. You will eventually be asked if you want to initialize or continue your current game. If you choose to initialize, then your current character will be erased so you can create a new one.
This can be achieved by running the INSTALL.EXE file from the U6 directory. Shouldn't require DOSBox to run it.

edit: While I was typing my response VisElEchNon updated his answer with DOSBox active (required, doesn't work properly without it).

"INSTALL.EXE" is a dos only program, therefore, you need DOSBox to run it.
On top of that, you've quoted from the "Ultima Collection" CD's version of the Ultima VI manual. That wouldn't work in this case as this is not being run from that CD (and thus doesn't have the CD's menu in place).

lol Post tag... yeah it tells me that you need to check for a different version of the program when I try to run it. I'm using 64-bit though so if someone wants to test on x86 and confirm / deny....

Haven't done this yet, but knew it would be something like that. Would never have figured it out myself! Thank you so very much!
OOOPS spoke to soon! Cat get dosbox to mount c. Yes I am in o/s windows 7. The message is "Usage mount drive -letter local directory
So a mount c c:\windows mounts windows directory as the c: drive in DOSBOX. What am I doing wrong?

You're typing exactly "mount c .." (without the quotes)? There should be a space between "mount" and "c" and another space between "c" and "..".
