UndeadHalfOrc: Dump every point into: appraise, tracking, charisma, sneak, traps, repair, picklock.
Seriously tough , It would be interesting as a challenge.
Bookwyrm627: Why are you necroing an 8 year old thread to give bad advice? Seriously tough , It would be interesting as a challenge.

On a more serious note:
I know every guide ever made sais Traps was a useless skill, and it most likely is the most useless skill, alongside
Appraisal, Sneak and Tracking.
But I never even tried it at all.
What kind of "traps" is it supposed to prevent or disarm exactly? And how do I actually disarm?

There are a few items that have traps on them. Pick the item up and the trap will damage you. I think the Traps skill is used automatically when you pick up the trapped item, but I'm not sure. An item with a trap on it is NOT the same as an item with a curse on it. A cursed item is terrible forever, while a trapped item should only hurt you once. I think. It comes up so rarely and on such irrelevant treasures that I might be wrong about some of this.

BTW charm skill is actually used in Dominus conversation, normally he will identify items for 10 gold, with full charm he identifies for 5 gold.

Bookwyrm627: How many points is "full" charm? 30 points? Found out this because I made a conversation editor and player. I played Dominus conversation with some debugging options and discovered this as a side effect.

Great. That means less skill points for important skills and more money I don't know what to do with. ;)

At least Charm has a use in UW1, as little at it may be: lots more bartering to do in UW1, than in UW2. Goblins, dwarves, lizards...
In UW2 the only place to spend money on is Merzan and he doesn't care how charismatic you are

Out of curiosity, if you hack a save to give yourself over 60 charm, what happens to the price of identifying items? Does it go negative, or does it underflow? Or des the game crash or otherwise behave strangely if you try that?
