still want UIX no matter what everybody says about it.
if so, it'd better be cheap >.< there's no way it's worth as much as ANY of the other games in the series

Hey if you liked it and want it then, that's fine personally for me I won't get it unless it was on sale and that is just for completionist sake but I still wouldn't go as far as to say GOG shouldn't sell it.

again that is just me and my opinion.
I have played them all I have beaten most of them including UIX i just lost the install disk I would like to have the game again I love running around the small world and even finding other ways to go around the world. U8 was horrible.

IX is special in that it is so hilariously horrible, like the Avatar's Super Mario jumping abilities.
The people over at Forgotten World are working (slowly, of course, being a fan project) on improving the graphics, fixing bugs and adding some new stuff to UIX. It's all not very advanced yet, but is very promising.

Over the years I've gotten some fun out of UIX by trying to either exploit or find workarounds to the various bugs and other quirks. I've found a way, for example, to get eight extra bags out of it (instead of the four bags you get if you follow the cheats found online), and how to keep Dermot in the cemetery in Britain (something we all tried to manage back in the days when Wayward Avatar was in business, but failed) although that trick is extremely tedious and time-consuming to pull off.

So, there's a kind of fun to be had just trying to screw with the game.
It probably will arrive here as all signs indicate especially with the release of the ultra-rare (until now) ultra expensive (but now released for free) Worlds of Ultima coming here, IX is really the last one. I liked the game as long as I didn't think of it as a main Ultima but as an Ultima-related adventure game. I played the whole game in first-person and found I enjoyed it more. (I believe ctrl-m does that.) It was enjoyable enough, but a bit unsatisfying as the end of the series.
Yeah, I think it's a matter of "when," not "if." The major hurdle to overcome would be getting it to run reliably on modern systems; IX is a notoriously temperamental piece of software, even if you do get it properly patched.
Maybe GOG should bundle U9 with M&M9.
Maybe it will come out when Spoony finishes his Ultima 9 review, just to troll him :D
Yes, bought U9 when it was new to be a completionist. Haven't played it yet though because a) I've been trying to play them all in order and I keep getting fed up. Up to Ultima 6 now but I hate the new interface.
b) Everyone says such horrible things, I'm afraid.

Well, if you just want the plot and don't mind the changes there's always Ultima 6 Project. Of course that requires you to have a copy of Dungeon Siege...

I actually bought Dungeon Siege so I could play Lazerus, but I convinced myself it has to be the originals or at most an engine port like nuvie.

Ah, well in Nuvie if you edit the "nivie.cfg" file you can change <fullscreen_map>no</fullscreen_map> to <fullscreen_map>yes</fullscreen_map> and get an interface like the one shown here. Unfortunately you HAVE to learn the hotkeys in this case because there's no GUI of any sort in this mode. It's pretty nice if you know the hotkeys though. (Maybe list them in a text file next to the window for reference while playing?)

And for reference:
A'ttack
B'egin/B'reak off combat
C'ast
D'rop
G'et
L'ook
M'ove
Q'uit
R'est
S'ave
T'alk
U'se
1-8 Solo mode
0 Party mode
F1-F8 Enter specific character's inventory
[Tab] Enter current inventory
[Esc] or [Space] Pass!

Spiffy, looks great, and learning hotkeys isn't a problem (after all I did play Ultima I - V :) ).
Is nuvie in a playable state? I listed it as an example because it looked promising but I didn't know that it was ready to complete the game in.
