Is there any way I can remap de mouse buttons so pressing the mouse middle button equals pressing both the left and right ones?

Jumping in this game is frustrating.

Remapping 2 buttons to equal one? Not that I am aware off no best you could do is remap what two buttons are used for jumping probably using DOSbox's built mapper or something similar but it still will be two buttons or keys. I sympathize with you on the jumping mechanic not one of Richard Garriott's best ideas.

It was actually pretty common around that time to have to hit two keys (usually Ctrl and Alt) to jump. Commander Keen is a good example of that. Using two mouse buttons however... not cool.

OhI wasn't knocking the two button thing but rather \jumping as a whole in Ultima 8 which even after the fixes added in the CD rom version it still hard to make some of those jumps given the perspective of the game.
The CD/speech versions didn't have the jumping patch, or at least they didn't initially. That had to be added later via a downloadable patch.

Whether later runs of the CD used an updated master, I don't know.

Quit playing Ultima 8 and play Persona, Xenoblade Chronicles and Drakensang instead, all of which capture the feel of old-school R.P.G.s far better than this shit.
I dug up U8 on Origin and went looking exactly for this thing (mapping the "both click jump" to a side button), but to no success so far =/

sad to see that everywhere we go on the internet there are trolls... People can't see someone playing something they dislike that comes the flames... Wish I had seen brilliance's reply 3 years ago - but my answer would be the same as today: go play the games you like and quit trolling around =p

There is Auto Hot Key, which might be able to do this... you'll have to Google it and mess around with it though as I don't have time at the moment.

Thanks Vis! Will check it as soon as I get home!
Jumping in this game is indeed frustrating, even after the patch.
Back when the game was released I finished it pre-patch, as in: You could not aim your jumps. Now that was an experience, a quickload experience.

I googled some macro programs, but they all have the limitation of one function per key/button. : \
