Since Ultima 7 comes wrapped up with Dosbox here on GOG, I was wondering what the process is of getting Ultima 7 working perfectly with Exult instead. Do you just install Exult over everything inside the main Ultima 7 folders? Or is there more to it then that? If so let me know how to go about this.

Also, I was just wondering if maybe Dosbox and Exult clashed causing issues or something? Meaning do you need to uninstall Dosbox first or something?

Thanks :)

You can just install Exult in your Program Files folder, or anywhere you like.
Exult will ask for the paths to your Ultima games and will store savegames elsewhere.
Your Ultima folder will remain untouched.

In other words, you don't need to worry about messing anything up.

Thanks man. Does Exult run ok on Windows 10?

And by the way, where do you launch the game at using exult? Thanks again.

I have no problems here. Be sure you download the latest snapshot though!

Where do you launch the Exult version at? Does it create a shortcut on desktop?
Yes, it does. It will ask you where to install, if you want a desktop icon, etc.
Just like most regular programs.

And what about the keyring? Since Ultima 7 on GOG is split into different sections/downloads. Woukd I need to download every section before I apply Exult for the full keyring?
Ehm, you're making this way more complicated than it is. Install GOG's Ultima 7 installer, install Exult, and you're done.

Not sure what you mean with 'keyring', but if you are talking about the The Black Gate keyring mod, that's optional.

Edit: If you're unsure on what to download from the Exult site, just these two:

Exult 1.5.x Snapshots
Windows XP/Vista/7/8/10 binary snapshot

All-In-One Audio Data packs (not required)
Installer for Windows

As it says, the audio data pack is not required, but I heavily recommend it.

So I'm guessing don't download Ultima 7 through Galaxy? Or does it matter?
It doesn't matter.
There is a post pinned on top of this forum that points you at the Exult forum for Exult questions!!! :)

And our documentation helps you, too :)
http://exult.sourceforge.net/docs.php#gog_windows <- though this is when you install the games via the installer not Galaxy, but I guess the location of the games is the same.
Thanks
I mean, I do literally this. I install the GOG offline installers for Ultima 7 and Serpent Isle. I run the Exult installer, I point it to the 2 GOG folders. I run Exult, I get "Could not find the static data for either...".

Sigh.
Please post your trouble with Exult in the Exult forum http://exult.sourceforge.net/forum/
And when you do, please post the contents of your exult.cfg http://exult.sourceforge.net/docs.php#exult_config_location

*sigh* seriously... how many times does one have to point people at the Exult forum until someone actually does?

I'm afraid the answer is: Infinitely.
There'll always be people that don't read stickies, or don't want to leave the website they're on, stuff like that.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's their own loss. :)
