Title says it all. Hi i'm new here and new too Dosbox. Just downloaded Ultima today. The problem I am having is that after the game boots up and I am on the options screan I can't seem to get any control. There is no mouse curser and no keys seem to work. Any advice would be apreciated. I am running windows 7x64. Drivers updated, and with admin privliges. Thank you.
Same here.
No control at title screeen.
I have a black mouse arrow that can't click on anything.
Pressing any key, the letter/number flashes quickly in the cursor, and returns an error sound.
Must ctrl-alt-del to leave fullscreen, esc doesn't work.
Windowed mode, i can close manually just fine.

Admin, AV off, Win 7 64, installed DirectX runtimes per the gog.com help page.
Both mouse and keyboard are USB.
Edit: affecting Ultima IV

Which Ultima are you talking about, Ultima 4? As all the Ultima games run in DOSBox in the GOG version they should work about as good or bad as any other DOSBox game.
If it's Ultima 4 you're talking about, you should take a look at the engine reimplementation project XU4.
I tried the latest nightly build earlier today and it works like a charm on my Win 7 64 bit box. If you have problems with the installation ask, but the readme and the process is pretty straight forward.
I'm having this same issue in UIV, so I assume that's what's being discussed here. For my part, even though it's a free release, it should be playable from the start, as that's one of the major draws of GoG: old games that play on today's systems with a minimum of fuss on the user's end. That's the main reason I've avoided downloading it up 'till now (as it's been free for over a decade).

EDIT: I should add that I'm on Vista 64, so it's probably not an OS-related problem.

Add me to the list. Vista 64. Downloaded fine and I can get to the main menu but nothing works there, no keys, mouse, nothing. Will await a fix. Thanks.
I'm running Widows XP and having the same issue. Seems like this problem is popping up regardless of what OS you happen to be running.
Same for me, can't do anything. Happens on both the gog version as well as the official freeware version running in dosbox. Must be dosbox related, but surely it would have worked for the gog dudes. Any special tips guys?

Do you have problems with any other DOSBox games, or just this one?

No, just Ultima IV, very strange. Does it maybe not use the arrow keys? I tried a few other combinations but couldn't be bothered going through the whole keyboard.

Movement is with the arrow keys.

Another option would be to play using xu4. At its default settings it looks and plays just like the original game, and you can optionally add music and better graphics and whatnot.

Cant even get past the menu screen, but will give UX4 a go and see if it works. Cheers.

Oh, you're stuck on the menu screen? There's no arrows for that. Type the first letter of the menu item you want to use.

THIS. And Thank you! :) Somehow in my key mashing frenzy, I managed to miss the 3 keys that actaully work. lol

Options seems to be disabled, but I,J, and R all work.

Thanks again!

'Options' isn't a menu item - the options are just those three items on the screen (Return to view, Journey Onward, Initiate New Game).

If you want actual audio/video/gameplay options to tweak, try playing with xu4 as Arkose suggested. It lets you configure all sorts of things. And there's the additional benefit that you can play it with enhanced graphics & music, if you like.
