Just thought someone might be interested in this. (I wasn't the one playing.)
The whole idea behind this speedrun is that, as long as you use the same lucky number, you get the same sequence of random numbers. By mapping out the sequence, you can predict the outcome of random events, allowing you to use the amulet to raise your stats, as well as avoid having it break.
Basically, since the RNG is fixed (it's actually seeded by the lucky number you enter), you can basically have TAS level RNG manipulation in this game.
