graspee: Yes the launch of the DLC was a total disaster. They hadn't uploaded the files in advance so we had to sit round waiting past the launch time as a dev uploaded them, including a break as they took their puppy for a walk. In the end it was getting on for 4 hours past the release time when we could finally play the DLC although the update to the main game happened early.
The update to the main game has minor changes like HD inventory screen, improved lighting and FOV but also now seems to crash a lot more for me at least. They also added a microtransaction shop that sells packs of steel, wood and magic materials etc. for real money via steam wallet. The microtransactions come from the console version I believe. To stop people using the console commands to get materials for free without paying they removed the console commands that let you spawn things.
The update also supposedly removed the draconian DRM with limited activations and replaced it with a serial number check of some sort but it doesn't have activations so is better. Some people have had problems with their CD key and the new lighter DRM but I don't know too much about them.
Nice to learn through Steam that the DLC is *not free* to everyone who already owns the game, as TopWare/RealityPump originally stated in the initial CoT announcements. Bummer. I'd been waiting ever since only to discover that they lied. I will not buy it, it's that simple.
