Hey, does anyone know of any performance enhancing tips for Two Worlds II?

I'm running the game on about medium settings (most options half way up), with a resolution of 1360x768, v-sync turned on, and PhysX off.

The frame rate is great, the problem is efficiency. My graphics card fan is roaring like an angry beast. It's so loud I need to turn up the volume. I just had a crash to black screen, I don't think it was caused by heat (felt cool enough), but i'm not sure.

So is there anything I can do in the options or configs to get it running a little better? I've had a quick search through the forums, which seemed to indicate using v-sync would throttle the power a bit (and it has!). Just wondering if I've missed anything obvious? Any tips/ideas welcome!

My Specs;
i3-2120 3.3Ghz
4GB DDR3 Ram
GTX 560ti

Thanks
I'm not sure about which specific settings will help, but you might check out the Two Worlds Control Panel, which is a mod that provides extra options and graphical settings for the game. This would give you better control for tweaking.

EDIT: This is for the first game, not the second. Sorry!

Two Worlds II includes both DirectX 10 (TwoWorlds2_DX10.exe) and DirectX 9 (TwoWorlds2.exe) executables. The DX10 executable is used by default. For some games DX9 is faster due to lacking some advanced effects; I don't know whether this is the case with Two Worlds II but that's something you could look into.

The Two Worlds Control Panel is for Two Worlds, not Two Worlds II.

Thanks for the replies!

I had noticed the game was running in dx10, but I didn't realise I could launch it in dx9. I've just done a quick test and this seems to have had a positive impact on performance. Needless to say I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

It seems a shame this game isn't better optimised, all things considered, it's not bad looking with high settings.

Thanks again for the quick feedback! I'll try to update this thread after I've clocked some serious time with the game, it might be of help to other users.

Whoops. Somehow I completely missed that "II" in the original post. Sorry!
Almost forgot to update this thread :P

I've not had much time to play since the last post, but after another 3-4 hours things seem to be working much better in dx9. Still not as perfect as I would like, but a solid improvement.

If anyone else reading this has similar trouble with the game, give it a go!

Thanks again for the help chaps!

I have a problem also. I have a 800 x 600 screen resolution. My game is choppy. I am on an xp and have the latest direct x drivers and phys x. I have to use the "Radeon" game start because that is the card I have. I also have the latest Nvidia drivers. It doesnt work as well on 1074 resolution.

My game reaction to camera turning and attacking is 3 seconds delay slow or "choppy" movement. I have adjusted my camera sensitivity and screen resolution to 800 by 600 which works better for my 32 bit XP computer. I have plenty of memory. Is there anything I can do to make the gameplay and movement smoother and faster? my computer has a good spped megahurtz. I have reloaded and restarted the game.

any ideas how I can smooth the movement and attacking?
