just checked on galaxy and it updated the game back to the older version and the game worked when I ran it so I think they may have quick fixed it by rolling it back to the version that last worked.

styggron: Sounds like we need to wait for another update. they apparently fixed the overview screen not working but in doing that broke the game completely sadly.

UrbanSepp: The GOG-Support answered me and since most of you are probably interested I will just post the answer here:

"Thank you for the update. I have checked the forum for the game as well and I have forwarded the problem to one of my colleagues who will work with the developer to get this sorted once and for all. Unfortunately, I do not know how long this will take but please note that we will ensure that we will do what we can to get this resolved as quickly as possible."

They are on it and I would guess they will fix it pretty soon, since even I managed to get a fully working game myself. The developer answered me as well. Every party is aware of the problem/bug and in contact with each other. No big news, but an update nevertheless.
Thank you for the update. The other problem is one of the thread is marked as solved where it really should not be marked as such as it was way too early.

As you can read above, galaxy people got a roll back, that still leaves me in trouble though. I am on 726 if I install the one in my library 727 it will break everything. Yes I have something that worked for you, keeping two files from the 727 install and then putting 726 back but I don't want to risk that.

I think the bet thing would be for you to add to your support ticket that 727 broke everything so the game is unplayable. Hopefully you already told them this so there is a way forward.

UPDATE:
Installing 727 is no longer an option as 727 offline installers are no longer there. Only 726 which is what I had in the first place. So looks like they rolledback for offline installers as well and figure non working overview screen is better than broken game. This is positive in a way because it means they are definitely going to fix it........ how long it will take is another update though. I never downloaded 727 as it was game breaking so now I am stuck with non working overview...... for now at least.

When 727 got released and it crashed everything, I told the GOG support as well as the devs. They pretty much knew that something went wrong the same day the update got released. I marked the other thread as solved because it was. The User NikBock provided a fix for the overview issue. Might not be the perfect solution but if it works, it works.

Since those files from the 727 updated did also fix the issue I thought it would be a more pleasant way for people to fix their game. But with the 726 version the hex-editor fix does work just fine.

Like I said, there is now no way to get those two files from 727 because there is no 727 offline installer and I certainly don't want to go through a hex editor.

So for me, it is far from solved until GoG releases a working version. 726 has overview not working, 726 is the only on that is available so for me, I'm stuck.
728 has been released. Both as all files installers and a patch from 726 to 728. I've not dared try it yet though. I guess I better find where the save games are, back them up and then try it. I have the 726 installers still so I can put it back again if needed. I'd rather wait to hear other peoples reports though.
Other than the GoG Galaxy overlay being borked, it seems to be running fine for me now, I can get past the tutorial and everything.
I confirm that all is working fine with version 0.728. No black o dark rooms, all overlay windows can be viewed, and savegames work well.
and I can confirm that my sandbox game saves no longer load. Sigh.....

Main campaign games load but not my sandbox games sigh so still issues.
Overview screen does work though.

Looks like they still need more fixes.

Going to reinstall 726 and hope my sandbox games still work and then wait for 729 and hope that works.

**Update.
** Reinstalling 726 fixes the broken sandbox game caused by 768 but of course the overview screen no longer works so square one.
** Kept the \TPH_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll from the bugged 768 install
** Kept the \TPH_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp-firstpass.dll from the bugged 768 install

Backed up the two DLL's from the reinstalled 766
Coped the 768 versions

Result --> All my saves work and Overview screen works.

This is only a temporary fix until 769 comes out, unless of course they never fix the sandbox game load bug.

Sry to make you read that, but...
Saves games un-compatibility never considered as a bug. This is not never been and be a mandatory feature. Start new game.
If changelog not stated directly otherwise that saves may be backward compatible and eve in that it is 50/50 optional feature. We dont have changlog, so we dont have such statement that saves should work.

Especially in that case when two first builds been completely broken. There is no point keep playing it and keep saves from it. They are broken initially.

I mean, that report already confuse someone here and on few else forums, they think sandbox mode is broken.
........
To figure out if issues fixed - reinstall clear build 0.728 from offline installer, remove entire game folder from winuser's .\AppData\LocalLow\Two Point Hospital\ (unity games are in LocalLow, yep) and start completely new game.

I could not agree with you less.
I would love to hear for example cyber punk 2077 people who get an update and they cannot load any save games they had and the advice is start over.

Sorry, I completely disagree.
I bought it with 726 I played it, 727 broke everything, 728 breaks all your sandbox mode saves, so for me that is still bugged.

I'm keeping the change I described above because then it all works and will wait for 729.
But did new saves working \sandbox itself?

And no. This one case is differ. First 726 been broken. This time it is players fault they keep playing it.
Even if im wrong about... but how im be wrong? Saves compatibility is optional feature of updates. Always been. Its not mine opinion. If some release\update release announce it is compatible - it shoudl be compatible. if devs didnt make such announce - they decide to not make saves backward compatible - they are not. So question is where to read official update changelogs for that updates...

Hello Qweeddyz
I did not try a new sandbox once I found the one I spent a lot of time did not work, I reverted back to 726 and kept the two .dll files to ao a quick fix so now I am still on 726, have everything working so that is how I am leaving it.

Also you are not wrong about anything :) Save compatability is very important to me. I don't see it as remotely being optional. Like I said, tell all the cyberpunk 2077 people that update they loose all their progress, sorry it does not work like that. I consider saves working a MUST **unless** the game is in development. Breaking saves with an update is a big no no for me.

It doesn't matter at the moment though because I am back on 726 except with the two updated .dll files it all works so I am not touching anything anymore. I've not tried any of the DLC but I will keep my eye out for 729 but if it breaks my sandbox, then I will go back to 726, I am not going to start the sandbox again.

The important thing is I hope you can play this great game in the way you prefer :) I hope the game works well for you.

No offence, but how about "no".
726 was available for over 2 weeks (at launch, after that weekend 727 disaster and even when the game was already being sold at full price, which is not cheap at all). It's not wrong of a user to expect 726's saves (sandbox included) to work after an update without any explanation or apology.
You're right in that we were not graced with changelogs and, perhaps, the devs/gog will never address any more issues. That reflects on them. It's not wrong of a user to expect a 4 year old game to work. Don't patronize other users for that.

This was simply not a good GOG launch - neither from the devs (broken builds), nor GOG (changing discounts in the middle of the promo period).

And I'm pretty sure the AI is still somewhat broken (tired and fired staff sometimes won't leave rooms, guests can queue up a single reception desk despite others being completely free).

Maybe the devs want GOG users to have the same launch experience as STEAM users got back in 2018... Or maybe they never fixed any issues on STEAM either...
I agree.

When I saw the problems at first I thought well... the 0.7xx version numbers probably mean the game it still in early access. I was surprised to see the game is 4 years old already.

I experienced those same bugs too. Plus the already known bugs in the first build. I was hoping to see a GOG release to be happy about but it seems the devs went for a quick cash grab and only put 1 dev on this to upload a build every now and then, no testing.

twifight:
The GOG version was made by a third party (General Arcade) that bragged on their website about how great their work was and how thorough their QA was.
