Here are some fundamental tips to get you started:

- You can change the difficulty any time in the options menu (gameplay), so don’t be afraid to start on a harder setting.
- If you have difficulty with the platforming sections, activate the map overlay (tab key) and navigate by that instead.
- You can jump farther if you jump diagonally (moving forward and sideways at the same time).
- Tapping forward in regular intervals instead of just holding down the key makes you swim and dive faster.
- You take no falling damage, so don’t be afraid of jumps (except over bottomless pits of course).
- Explore every nook and cranny of the levels to find all the necessary keys. This will save you some backtracking later.

If you have anything else noteworthy, go ahead and share it.
o you can zoom the map via x and z key

o draw distance etc is diabled ... if you want better grafics you have to enable the stuff you want yourself

o dont use water reflections ... at least i turned them off kinda quick ... because you cant really see if the water is deep or if there is a cave you can dive in etc

sure you can just jump in and check it out ... but i kinda prefer to see through the water ;)

THIS I cannot stress enough. I would almost call it the best tip above all others.
There is a glint in the arrow to tell you it is at full power.

Another tip is use the map as a cross hair xD
I explain it in this video at 2:50 https://youtu.be/1SmDx864Q7M
It is pretty effective for long range targets!
Oddly enough, the "alien weapon" does not replace the pulse rifle after acquiring it. Only use the alien weapon vs groups of enemies. The alien weapon's single target DPS is slower than pulse rifle. Furthermore, the total damage dealt on one target is less than the pulse rifle(damage per round wise). More will be wasted on single targets than when using the pulse rifle and they will die slower.

I went in depth into this because I was thinking the gun may be underpowered and was gunna post a thread but i'm just assuming I was using it the wrong way.

Also, if there is any specific settings you may want to change or tweak in more detail, type "help" (without quotes) into the console to see some console commands.
Oh, the alien weapon is just and always complete garbage, and that is unfortunate because using it feels nice.

Its my opinion they could have buffed it a little.

Yep tried using it again. It's shit. The dev buffed the minigun I believe(mentioned it in the gog stream) so hopefully he'll buff this.

I would like to add another tip : when killing enemies (only soldiers I think, actually, at least in the first level ?) with the knife, you may sometimes get a "Mortal wound" (which looks like a mask) power-up. It permanently increases your maximum health by 5, i.e. if you pick a blue +25 health, you can go over 100. You can only do this a few times, the maximum is 120 or 125. I have only just started playing this new version, so I do not remember :)

The knife is actually a decent weapon, it is especially useful against the small beetles and leapers in the caverns or in the labyrinth in the first level, and it helps a lot conserve ammo when fighting them.

Says this page, "Mortal Wound: Chance to be obtained when the player kills a human enemy with a single knife attack or regular arrow, restores five HP, cannot be stacked beyond 125 HP. "
sorry for the necro but I want to add my two cents.

on hardcore ammo is harder to come by since enemies don't drop anything so use your knife for all melee human characters and flesh and cyborg raptors should be killed with the knife by circling them clockwise and staying behind them.

use the fog to your advantage and side glance ahead to see enemy layouts and use the hand gun to pick off weak enemies from a safe distance...oh sometimes your going to have to remember from memory where exactly they are because the fog covers them 2 shots for normal guys and three for the ancient warriors.
