It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

styggron: Ok tried the solution. No good.

When offline, wireless off etc, the launcher NEVER starts.
You can ONLY start the launcher when you are connected in some way.

The only difference is with the regsvr32 lines done, when you are connected online, the firewall does not detect any outgoing connections. But if you are totally offline, it never starts.

Sadly this does not solve the problem because it means I can never play Tron 2.0 without an internet connection as the launcher never comes up.

:( :(

If anyone can help that would be great
Hmm. After doing some more checking, I'm seeing some discussion saying that the regsvr32 commands used to work, but Microsoft changed something via updates and now they no longer do. :/

Though I think disabling the Games Explorer might have been a better solution if it worked (since this issue will affect certain other games, too) . . . then simply renaming the launcher executable might do the trick?

I mean, the Games Explorer is likely detecting the filename of the launcher executable and then interrupting the game launch based on that. If you rename the launcher from "TRON.exe" to something like "Launcher.exe" or whatever, that might be a simple solution to thwarting the interruption? (You'll also have to create a new shortcut icon in your Start Menu or on the desktop/taskbar.)

Also, in that Microsoft topic, it was mentioned that killing the launcher of a game in the Task Manager and then launching again, might allow it to work. (Because the rundll32 will probably still be running for a while, and a second instance of rundll32 won't start and hook in if you launch quickly enough a second time.)

If worse comes to worst, the game can be started without the launcher. It just acts as a convenient front-end to run the game. But I'll wait to see if simply renaming the launcher does the trick, before getting into that.

Thank you for that but I'm afraid none of it worked.

So I just used the takeown command, and the access control list, ICACLS, took the file and renamed it so it is now called something different.

Problem seemingly solved, still testing but instant load when offline, instand load when online and firewall detects NO attempted connections.

I'm sure I am not the only one affected but GoG games are supposed to work full offline when not connected, so it is really something you would have hoped they are aware of, I did contact support and will let them know what I did so they can work on it as well.

Will test for a few days but looks promising.
:) A giant thank you for pitching in to help. I love Tron.

Yeah . . . I didn't want to recommend that method until the end, because it's kind of extreme and probably a last resort. Getting into modifying system files, in any way, is something the end-user shouldn't have to do. :/

Also, during any future Windows Update, the change you did might be undone. (Then again, the same might have happened with the regsvr32 method too, if I'm honest.)

As for what GOG can do about it . . . honestly, I don't know off-hand. An OS level fix is what should happen. But considering this problem has existed for years, and Microsoft still haven't fixed it . . .

Agreed. Thank you so much for your help too.
Regarding GoG fixes, I would have thought they would have tested it on the platforms and saw rundll32 tries to access the internet and if you are offline it never starts up so I would have thought GoG would have a fix for it if discovered during the testing phase.

Still, it seemed to work yesterday, going to test it for a few momre days before I call it "fixed" though. :) Yes updates might change it back, solution, don't get updates :O although now it might be safer unless MS sneakily wants to put in W10 rubbish into our W7 users updates.
Im getting a not enough disk space error on the KAM install at the very end?

There's a workaround for this issue here: https://tronfaq.blogspot.com/2010/11/tron-20-killer-app-mod-help-and.html#freespace

The patching software used by the mod's installer stops calculating free space correctly, if there's more than 2TB of free space on the partition where TRON 2.0 is installed. I already contacted the dev of the patching software, and it will be fixed in the next version of the mod.
