JoeMD: What does the instruction mean by
"Steam/GOG.com releases also work fine, although you may have to
mount the included CD image first to get the required directories" ?
I can't see a CD image (ISO?) anywhere, and I don't know what "mount" means. Anyone able to help?
The GAME.GOG file is actually a CD image. You can re-name it GAME.ISO and mount it using a tool that can mount CD images (such as CDemu in Linux).
stohrendorf: Don't worry. If you want to play the original game as close as possible, TombATI is your chioce. If you're willing to deviate a bit from that idea, and accept that some other engines are basically the same as the original, tomb1main is your choice. If you're willing to take some very few compromises with edge cases while having more modern features, CroftEngine is your choice. Unfortunately I'm not capable to say anything positive about OpenLara (not saying it's *bad*), but from what I know, it's the farthest from the original gameplay, even having some gamebreaking bugs - don't get me wrong, I'm pretty uninformed about that engine.
Hi! I am interested in playing TR1 on Linux. CroftEngine looks really impressive and I am intending to give it a try soon :-)
I have been trying to get OpenLara working, but the documentation for it seems quite poor (there doesn't seem to be a proper README). I'm not sure where all the data files are supposed to go, so I have it running but it's not playing the FMVs.
