I'm having somewhat of a problem with the setup program, though nothing seriously. When I want to save the settings, the program runs two test programs which both don't work.
-First it wants to test the refresh settings by displaying a spinning cube. I never saw a spinning cube so I lied that I did when it reached the 60Hz.
-Secondly it tests the sound. I didn't hear any, but I just lied that I did.
If I honestly said I didn't see and hear anything, I wasn't able to close the setup program. And though I didn't see and hear anything during setup, the game worked absolutely fine.
Just to let you know...
Yeah, I've the same problem. The game runs smoothly though.
Same thing happens here. No problem with the game itself though so no worries.
Ditto. I killed about 20 minutes trying to figure out why I couldn't see the spinning cube. Finally, I just moved on to the sound test. I saw a spinning square there and thought I might have just misplaced my spinny cube. In the end, I just lied and started the game. Plays just fine.

Out of interest, what OS are you using?

XP SP3
XP SP3 *shudder*
SP3, in my view, was designed to make people go to Vista, cos it screwed around with so much stuff.
Vista Basic. Well, I guess you can get away with that, but relay, you need to go up to Home Premium. It has better support for games and the like, and comes with more fetchers. Here is a comparison
My self, I have Vista Ultimate.

If your CPU happens to be an AMD dual-core then you'll need to install the Optimizer to help you out.
Clicky following link and download the Optimizer Version 1.1.4.

Install anywhere and things should work ok. If not, then its something else I haven't worked out yet. Still, manually setting up everything via the advanced tab for the graphics and just excepting the default sound option and as you've discovered already, it runs fine.

I can't complain - my system works fine, :) Sorry for OT.

Happens with XP Professional SP2 as well.
On an OT note, is there any method to control contrast/gamma inside TRD3? I'd like things to look a bit more sharp, but I can't for the life of me find anything inside to control it.
I think you should try to tinker with video driver settings.

Yeah, did that for my laptop, fine and dandy, everything looks all nice. However the machine I play on, which is at work is the same machine my boss uses. He HATES it when I change it on the video card level.
Ooops, then this is a no-no :)
I didn't look for it but maybe there are some entries in some config.ini files.
