I'm trying to get this game started up, but there is no text. I read that a patch released on September 23rd should fix this, but there is no patch to download on GOG. Anyone know how I can get this patch so I can play this game?

Except it's not a patch. I agree that whoever is in charge of packaging this is doing a sub-par job. Game's large enough that some extra effort in creating a standalone patch is worthwhile.

It's a whatever-it-is that requires a full download of the game if one opts out of Galaxy. Patch, instructions to delete files, whatever. Edit: while terminology matters, to keep things simple I use the same term the OP uses: patch.

In this case, since the OP wants a version that has been replaced by other, more recent, versions that came after 23 Sep, I suspect Galaxy might be the easiest (only?) way to get that specific version from gOg.
