Since the new manual for TQ:AE never goes into details on mechanics, plus there are some errors/understatements all over the place (meritocratically-wise) in the game's text, I spawned a small mod that should clarify at least some of them. Various TQ forums were indispensable in this mod's creation.

It works with saved games and you don't have to start a new quest, as it only adds/alters letters and nothing else. No changes to mechanics, so give it a guilty-free ride, warrior.

Compatible both with GoG and Steam version of 1.44.

INSTALLATION:
1. Download the modded text file from here
2. Backup the TEXT_EN.ARC in X:\Your TQ:AE Installation\Text\ directory.
3. Replace the file from above (not the on you have backed up) with the one you just downloaded.
4. Play the game.

UNINSTALLATION:
1. Overwrite with the backed up file from earlier.
2. Play the game.

CHANGELOG for v1.0 (dated 25.07.2017):

Changes to character window (tooltips mostly):
- Added info to all resistances that their damage type is not absorbed by your armor (I didn't know that, for example; at least until I delved into the forums as the manual didn't state that fact).
- Changed the incorrect word of "Ice" to "Cold" in the Cold Resistance's description (there are no Ice type of damage in the game, only cold).
- Added info that the Lightning Resistance also reduces damage from Electrical Burn attacks (wasn't mentioned).
- Added info that your shield can block any type of damage, even the kind that is not absorbed by your armor (and that's another fact).
- Added info that the base recovery between shield blocks is 3 seconds.
- Added info that the regeneration rate of Health/Energy is per second (wasn't clarified).
- Clarified that the Offensive/Defensive Abilities refer both only to melee combat (ranged and staff attacks always hit).
- Made the addressing form in each tooltip consistent. They're referring to the player in the second person now, the same as tooltips in the skill window (consistency in form is always a great thing).
- Removed flavor text from Stun and Skill Disruption Resistances (other resistance didn't have them).
- Added mini-flavor text to each description for attributes.
- Primary Resistances are now named that (and they weren't).
- Discerned the info that the Average Damage/DPS are based both on a target with no armor and resistances (wasn't clear).
- Removed colon from the end of Secondary Resistances and Combined Armor's individual elements (the vast majority of other names didn't have them either).
- Added info that Vitality Resistance reduces damage from Reduction to Health attacks the Vitality Resistance's tooltip (wasn't clear).
- Added info that Life Leech Resistance is counted separately in the Vitality Resistance's tooltip (because it is).
- Changed the "Bonus" word in the Combined Armor to "Other" (suits better).
- Changed the name of "Block Chance" to "Shield Block", to match the modifier given by the equipment and skills (once again, uniformity bows its head).
- Removed "Energy Burn" from the Energy Resistance's decription as there is nothing named like that in the game and replaced it with "Energy Drain" (the name of the matching effect).

Changes to skill/equipment naming (tooltips mostly, again):
- Changed "Damage" to "Physical Damage" where applicable (because it was named that in other places).
- Swapped the "Chance of Dodge Attacks" to "Chance of Dodge Melee Attacks" as it works only against those (I didn't know that).
- Altered the "Chance to Avoid Projectiles" to "Chance to Evade Projectiles" (one doesn't avoid nor dodge projectiles in combat, but evade them).
- "Projectile" was made plural in the "Increase in Projectile Speed" ability.
- Formatted the "Second" bit to "Second(s)" where it was applicable (works well with the syntax).
- Formatted the "Target" word to "Target(s)" where it should be (works well with the syntax).
- Formatted the "Level" part to "Level(s)" in all places that were referring to charging levels of something (works well with the syntax).
- Added "Speed" to "xx% Slower Movement/Attack/Casting" descriptions (to make it crystal clear).
- Changed "% Slowed" to "xx% Slower Total Speed" (as it is referring to the "flat" total speed modifier).
- All modifiers that slows something by the "flat" percentage number are now distinguished as "% Slower", while every modifier that adds to the slow "damage" by a percentage is now discerned as "+xx% Slow of" (it is more logically sounding).
- Changed "Leach" in Life/Energy leech attacks to "Leech" as it was a typo (total typo).
- Corrected "Elemental Damages" to "Elemental Damage" as it should be (damage is singular and plural at once).
- Added ASCI character for degrees (°) to the "Arc of Attack" description (it was that easy).
- Added "All" to "xx% Damage Reflected" to imply it works with all types of damage as it does.
- Added "All" to "(xx%) Damage Absorption" to imply it works with all types of damage as it does (for real).
- Made "Disruption" referring to "Skill Disruption" consistent all over the place (it was random).

CHANGELOG for v1.1 (dated 26.07.2017; includes all changes from v1.0):

- Revised all skills' descriptions to match their reference to you in the second person (invariableness supremacy).
- Revised all shrines' descriptions to refer to you that way (even more homogeneousness).
- Added info that the skill also influences you where it was lacking (in a couple of places).
- Retouched all artifacts' descriptions (consistency).
- Added full periods at the end to all descriptions that they were lacking it (because it's better that way).
- Added missing commas to the all of text (there was a couple).

CHANGELOG for v1.2 (dated 28.07.2017; includes all chnages from v1.0 and v1.1):

- Removed colons from a couple of places (homogeneity once more).
- Removed unneeded spaces from before colons in several spots (but not everywhere as some are needed).
- Removed doubled spaces from a lot of spots (they were everywhere; but once more - some were required for a proper syntax).
- Checked the charms'/relics' descriptions.
- Checked twice the texts of those various scroll messages.
- Removed pseudo-flavor texts from Attributes' tooltips' descriptions (they didn't fit the general theme, after all).
- Replaced ASCII ellipsis character with three full periods everywhere.
- Replaced the word "Stone" with "Shrine" where it was eligible (where it was referring to shrines, naturally).
- Changed "Frostbite Shrine" to "Frostburn Shrine" (uniformity).
- Formatted the "Summon" word to "Summon(s)" where it should be (syntax reason).

The base cooldown between shield blocks isn't always 3 seconds. Some have a cooldown of 2.5 seconds. Also the life leech resistance isn't combined with the vitality resistance anymore.
