It might be that the patch is written with some Galaxy-friendly API-type stuff in it that isn't compatible with manual download and installation. Who knows... just wish it was more friendly for those of us with slow connections.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet, install Galaxy, and ONLY use it for these patch instances. Or periodically borrow the internet connection from someone in town - there's 60Mb available just a mile or so from here, but not here at our place.

Slow connection? Please, I know all about that. I have to tether by using my phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot and I have to share data with my phone. That's why I use Galaxy because it's easy to update with my slow connection. I can't wait to move to an area with high-speed Internet.

Seems you're causing the "Download 6 gigs whenever they update" problem on yourself by refusing to use Gog Galaxy FOR UPDATES, (for whatever bizarre reason).
Just put on your tin foil hat and use gog galaxy when you see there's an update to Titan Quest.

Yes, I must be some kind of moron for asking that they make an existing patch available on our library page. Because it makes complete sense that, instead of them giving us direct access to the relatively small patch file, we either download again a complete installer 100x the size of the patch

we download the 145MB Galaxy installer in order to obtain the 60 MB patch.

For "whatever bizarre reason":

1. The aforementioned 145MB Galaxy installer for a 60MB patch.
2. Galaxy is STILL in beta some 2-and-a-half years later. I don't beta test games, and I don't beta test a client - especially one that I don't want.
3. I don't need the multiplayer matching function.
4. I don't need the barely-working Crossplay function.
5. I don't need Achievements.
6. I don't need roll-back.
7. I don't need to track game-playing time.
8. I don't need the "Friends" crap.
9. And the patch obviously already exists, else you wouldn't be chastising us for not getting it through Galaxy.

The solution is simple: gOg can make it available in our libraries. They've done that with patches for other games (I downloaded a few yesterday), it's no more difficult for them to put the patch there than it is to put the new installer there, and it's downright idiotic to ask someone to install a client 2.5 times as large as the patch itself in order to get said patch. Galaxy has zip point shit to do with the game itself, so why is it unnecessarily being placed in the middle of the process when the client has been touted from the get-go as optional?

"See how great Galaxy is? It allows you to get a small patch file instead of downloading the complete installer again!" Um, no, it was a decision to not make the smaller file available through the customers' library, thus necessitating installation of the BETA client - that a good number of us do not want - in order to avoid yet another large download for some minor game changes.

Or - and this is where it gets all crazy and shit - the patch could be made available through the customer library.

Just an FYI, Galaxy doesn't have a patch. It simply downloads the changed files. For a few select games Galaxy actually downloads only a binary diff of the changed files and applies that.
This is only speculation on my part, but GOG considers it simpler to create a new installer than to produce a patch. For other games I've seen them push out an installer when in a hurry and add a patch days later. It also depends on how the devs supply the updates to GOG as to how readily a patch gets made.

With that said Galaxy can suck it. It does seem odd we haven't seen any patches with Titan Quest, but I don't have any trouble downloading the installers so I'm not terribly bothered.

If it's just files and not an installer then a zip file will suffice, with a readme.txt holding instructions. Pretty much how it was done for good old games. Not sure why this stuff has to be done with some client, if it's sometimes a matter of simply copying some files. I have a feeling that user-installed patches are going the way of the dinosaur.

For what it's worth, I ended up toting the laptop over to my brother's place and used his connection to get it (while I was getting a bunch of other large downloads and making big uploads). Sucks for those who don't have that option and who don't want to put their trust in the beta Galaxy.

I stopped DL'ing, updating & playing this game after the second or third full DL "patch", so that I didn't have to keep wasting time, but this is starting to take the piss now.

What is wrong with them doing proper patches?
I'm betting steam gets those, in another thread someone said that GOG Galaxy does it via patches, so why are we forced into doing full DLs for those of us that use GOGDownloader or browser!?

Really getting sick of this game and its lack of patches.

The Galaxy client is useless to me. My gaming PC has no Internet connection - and it never will - because that's the way I want it. It has no need for Anti-virus, Anti-spyware or firewall software to slow it down. I have the Windows services stripped to a minimum. It runs fast and smooth.

I buy GoG games because I can install and run games on a PC that has no Internet connection. To the guy who reckons anyone who doesn't install the Galaxy client is wearing a tin foil hat, why do you buy games from GoG? Just buy your games from Steam. They have better offers and a bigger choice.

What? There have been patches! Great! No notification to say so. I check occasionally as I read of updates via Steam on the TQ.net forum, but every time I look it's just the same 3 downloads so haven't bothered. My internet is slow so every complete download takes me 3-3.5 hours. Just make a patch for heaven's sake! It's much quicker and easier for everyone surely.

"stability update" ? did it need to redownload the entire graphics/sounds assets for the game again ?
can't such kind of update just patch up/replace the executable, instead of AGAIN shoving 5gb multilangage installer down our throats ?

Titan quest is a cool game, it's nice to have it here ok, it's nice to see support for it too... but i doubt steam user get 5gb/full game downloaded and installed again from scratch for a minor fix that barely concerns the executable only !

And this time the"stability update" basically means removing some redundant files from the game folder.
Imagine you have to download 5gb files to REMOVE some 10mb files.
And the Steam version stopped working after recent update. Lots of people are complaining there too. Maybe some files they removed are actually not redundant at all. Anyway, it turns out, the devs are REALLY not good at updating their products.

so not only we have to redownload 5gb for update but we have to keep an extra 5gb previous installer for rollback purpose...

am i the only one to find it insane ?

There's still a few things I hate about Galaxy though.
It automatically starts DLing things as soon as you load it up.
Some games, like The Long Dark for instance, I stick to an older build because they added things I disagree with in game. But using Galaxy, it'll start patching it (& others) before I can stop them, some times breaking my installs.

Just as bad, as once I've managed to hit the "pause" button, I then have to click every bloody game, which then takes me to another tab, to cancel it & do that over & over :(

P.S. INSIDE (bloody great game) has also just done a full DL patch :$
