Does Titan Quest support cross-play with the steam version for online co-op?
Post edited August 31, 2016 by Zero86-Sk
Would love an answer too. I tried asking on the release thread but my post got buried pretty quickly :)
I haven't seen any mention on how the multiplayer is implemented (Steamworks, Galaxy, independent system, direct IP ?).
I can't really answer your question just yet. But as my steam version of Titan Quest has automatically given me the anniversary edition for free I will be able to check tomorrow evening if I can see the same servers in the steam version as in the gog version... Wouldn't that mean that it is compatible? The list of servers however seems quite extensive in the gog version so my guess is that it includes steam versions in the list.

Yeah, multiplayer works over Nordic's servers from what I gathered. I could see the Steam multiplayer game of my friends with my gog version (couldn't join it, but that's due to the server browser acting up, see the other thread).
Hey I justed to add my experience with attempting to play cross play. It doesn't seem to work right now. I tried to play a lan game with one person on steam and the other using the gog version and it wouldn't join. It then showed the following message:

"You do not have the correct version to connect to this server. Please update."

I then tried to join one of the few open online games in the gog version and the same thing happened again.
Huh, that sounds like a version mismatch between the two versions...Maybe not intended and a bug?

Yeah I'm hoping it's a bug and it'll be solved soon. Fingers crossed.
Just wanted to add my voice to those requesting this feature. I'd very much like to buy this from GOG, but I'm guessing most of my friends would prefer Steam, so I want to be sure I'll be able to play with them.

The latest update in Galaxy addresses the server issue and the offline installers will be updated tomorrow.
Hey, I just wanted to give an update about cross play. With the lastest update to Titan Quest, I can now play a lan game with one person using the gog version and the other person using the steam version.
Can somebody please verify that GOG version supports Co-OP multiplayer with Steam players?

Jp90 just said it's possible. Be aware that game updates tend to arrive way earlier on Steam than on GOG causing multiplayer incompatibility during the intervening period.
I have the GOG version and play with my friends on Steam.

As of v1.31 this problem is back again in full force, I think because you can currently only get it if you are running GOG Galaxy. If you download and install the most recent version posted, you get 1.30 (GOG-5).

Please update the downloadable package to 1.31.

We will be updating the main installer for TQ on Monday if everything goes well :)
