Windows Media Pack is what is needed for people who have N version of Windows.
In my situation it is "Windows Pro N".

The problem is that Microsoft released this year October update: 1809
There was issues with users missing files and they withdrawn the update to have time to fix it.

What is unfortunate, some users stuck with this update, but MS have withdrawn also WMP to download for 1809.

Normally You should download WMP here:
www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack

But there are only 1709 (october 2017) and 1803 (april 2018)

From this discussion someone find out that the WMP was avaiable for some time and there is reddit thread about this where You could download WMP installer file for 1809:

This solved the issue for me.

So If i use Windows 7 Home Premium it won't help me in any way?

I solved it on my system.

It seems the game doesn't like codec packs. I used shark007 codec pack. Uninstalled that then it worked just fine.

Strange issue I must say, never encountered it.

What the heck? How did you even considered that? Tried to uninstall everything out of desperation in hopes it would fix the game?

First try: CDPR logo screen. First loading screen. Black screen with voices and subtitles. Everlasting black screen.
Second and third try: Miniscule improvement of a single still frame (presumably the very first) during the cinematic.

Win7 64. Ancient GPU, but it should be able to handle this little game - or at the very least the intro scene; Gwent's works just fine.

Well, I certainly won't even bother trying whether uninstalling CCCP works for this one game when I need it all the time and it's never caused a problem with any other game before.

I figured it stalled on a cutscene, so tried to uninstall the codec pack as first step. Got lucky I guess :)

They will probably patch the game so that you can use custom codec packs in the future

Same problem but with Win 7, Contacted support. Hope they will fix it soon.

Same here, just paid and installed the game.
Got past initial loading screen to what seems like a cutscene but there was no audio or visuals, just a black screen.

Running on Nvidia GTX 970, Windows 10 Pro N, Media pac 1803

Hi all!
Good news, guys )

This problem has simple solve.
Delete all codec pack. CCCP, k-lite. Delete it all.
Cut-scene plays normal, no one black screen.

Win 7.

Same here.
Got black screen after tavern sceen, solved it by skipping that.
Got black screen after second intro, solved it by skipping that.
Got black screen after i started new game, i hear some sounds, but that's all.

This is still a relevant issue. My situation is identical to TanenbergIS' description.

I had this issue on my Win7 x64 machine just now. Turning off the OVERLAY in GOG fixed it for me.

Click GOG.com in the top left, then Settings. Features tab on the left, bottom option.
