Hi guys,

I've found that some Steam game (like Hand of Fate) run much slower than its GOG's counterpart, especially if my internet speed is slowing down (but not completely disconnected). This is happened quite often, especially since internet connection in my country is quite unstable.

So, with that said, for you guys who bought TWOM both on Steam and GOG, do you feel any performance difference between them ?

Thank you.

I didn't played the Steam's version, but with my pc (intel HD graphics 3000, 4GB ram, i3-2120 3.30 Ghz), I run it without problem.
Steam versions of games may include DRM which will hurt performance. Exactly how much depends on the type of DRM used. One of the reasons why gog.com is getting my money but Steam isn't

Steam versions of games don't include DRM, unless you consider Steam integration itself "DRM" - i.e. achievement systems and overlays. It usually only prevents running games that have an online component or a similar system dependency in the first place.

Either way I noticed no slowdowns between GOG and Steam releases of games that I got here so far, barring the occasional delay until either side catches up to the latest game version released by the developers, depending on which platform the devs give priority to. However, it is possible for Steam games to slow down if you disable the background downloads prevention option and have some other game installing or updating while you play, because of the disk read/write operations and performance overhead for active downloads.
Yeah there shouldn't be any speed differences. I can't test it but from what I know they are exactly the same release (minus the Steam dll's).

Steam games however always have DRM. The fact that you require Steam to install the game and you need to be online every now and then (even if this has a long cooldown period) makes it DRM.
gog.com doesn't allow DRM; Steam does.

Whether a game includes more than just the steam client is usually up to the developer/publisher.
Denuvo (now cracked and nearly obsolete) is a very notorious form of DRM and sources claim that in some instances it takes up almost as much resources as the game itself. I'll stick with DRM-free software thank you very much
