nope u have to run as administrator lol
In my case it was enough to run game in mode "run as administrator". You can always try to install Ligos Indeo Codec as far as I can remember.
I'd also recommend anyone who uses DDFix to patch the THIEF.EXE binary manually, I've no idea if the GOG re-build changed the location of the 2 ddraw.dll in the program's memory,

Edit - K-Lite Standard codec pack definitely works alongside Thief Gold, I've got it running OK on my desktop. The FFDShow in XP Codec Pack caused me lots of grief however.

I too did not have functioning video. Running on Win7 64bit. However when ran as an administrator, the videos work just fine.

Just be warned though, after running the game as an admin, I noticed my game saves weren't recognized anymore and I had to start over.

If i run the game not as an admin, they're there. But as an admin, they aren't. Oh well, case in point, running as admin fixed the video issue for me. I just had to start over. =/

If you're running as admin your saves are read from game folder. Otherwise they're read from
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\GOG.com\<Game>\

You can just copy them.

Ive tried everything in this thread... nothing is working on Thief or Thief 2. No video cut scenes at all.
I'm also having the same issue of videos not playing in game.
I've tried everything in the thread.

If I open the movies in Windows Media Player, the audio plays normally but there's no picture.
There's obviously a problem with the codec not registering properly.
I still have my original Thief 2 discs and even the codec provided back then doesn't work.

Running Windows Home 64bit.

10-4. That makes sense! I did look in the game folder and didn't see any saves so I figured they were somewhere else. I was just to lazy to look into it. Thanks for the heads up and helping out the clueless!

Are you running Windows Vista or 7?
Sounds like an issue with the Indeo video codec.

I'm also not getting the videos to work. Windows 7 Professional 64. Tried everything iwth the codec and then I also tried to install the reencoded movies. Still no luck.

Have you tried DDFix?
Yep, tried the one installed with the game, tried the most recent one and tried TGfix posted here.
I've got Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit) and while cutscenes work in Thief 2 they don't in Thief Gold. How can I fix this?

Edit: Forgot this post, I fixed this by running Thief in admin because of how Thief 2 asks permission.

Windows 7 64 Bit

JonahFalcon: Not solved for me. Am running on Win7 and did the ddfix thing and it didn't work.

minispace: I had the same issue running Windows 7. I was able to play the videos by opening a command prompt and registering the proper codec.

Run (as administrator) > cmd

cd C:\Windows\SysWOW64

regsvr32 ir50_32.dll

Afterwards the videos played normally. I really love this game!
This worked for me!
I have the same problem here. Videos only play in Thief II when I start the game as administrator. That's not a solution. Any chance to have videos as ordinary user?
