Im just curious, is there any interest for a german language patch for thief gold? I consider creating one, or is there one already?

I think there was a german version of the game, being the one here british or american, that also included an extra song by Subway to Sally.

of course theres a german version of the game, i own it, thats not the point. gog doesnt provide it, so i asked if someone is interested in a patch that adds german texts and vo.

I own both the French and German language versions of the original Thief. Both are excellent and I'd love to see gog make these versions available as well.

Hi, I'm also interessted in an official GOG German Version of Thief Gold. And of course the other Thief games.
So yes, a german patch would be very cool indeed.

Apparently there is no "new" german word for Taffer, but an equivalent.

In the German version of Thief 1 and 2, the word they used is "Schleicher" (have Google translator pronounce it for you here). It isn't a neologism in the way "taffer" is, it literally means lurker/sneaker.

I tested the german language patch from schote.biz, but I didn't get it working with GOGs release from Thief 1+2. So I would also be very happy with an official german version from GOG!
Especially because Thief 1+2 (along with Dungeon Keeper 1+2) where the only games with a decent german synchro back in the 90's .. everything else sounded like crap back then :-)

seeing that the german patch for Thief Gold doesn't work (at least its not supporting Windows 8.1), i will create an archive to overwrite all the sound and video files, but its around 530MB and will take some hours until its uploaded because i have really slow upload speed.

its a .rar archive, extract it and copy the 2 folders (MOVIES & RES) into your thief gold main directory. overwrite all files. open the install.cfg in the thief gold directory and change the line where it says "language english" to "language german".

that should do it. be sure to install TGfix before or after, i encountered some menu anomalies without it.

i will do one for thief 2 in the next few days.

Achja, sorry hab das bisschen aus den Augen verloren. Ich hab wie bei Thief Gold die Text- und Audiodateien der deutschen Version extrahiert und in ein Archiv gepackt. Installation sollte genauso verlaufen wie oben für Thief Gold beschrieben, denke ich, weiß allerdings nicht obs da die gleiche install.cfg gibt. Ich kann es nicht testen, da ich schon lange kein Windows mehr benutze und keine Zeit für wine habe. Also einfach mal probieren:

funktioniert einwandfrei :)

es müssen einfach in den dateien DARKINST.CFG und install.cfg die english in german umgeschrieben und gespeichert werden (mit TXT Prog.)
