As the title says the game (Thief Gold) crashes at startup on Win 10.

Any suggestions?

Is there a Thief.log in the game's folder? If there is, can you post its contents?

Install TFix, run the game as administrator, then come back if it still doesn't budge.

I tried to install TFix but unfortunately that didn't work... Thanks anyway.

I uploaded it here, thank you:

I read somewhere that the game could crash if installed inside "Program Files". I'm now trying to install it in a different folder.

EDIT
The game goes on crashing even after installing it into "C:\Thief".

EDIT
I actually noticed it was installed to "C:\Thief\Thief Gold" but I don't think that can be the problem.

I got it working.

Instead of using the GeForce card on my laptop I forced the game to use the integrated Intel gfx card.

Thank you for trying to help me.
Glad you got it to work :)

For future reference, though, that is only partly true. As of Windows Vista, Program Files and Program Files (x86) are treated as protected directories for "some" reason, and certain installers (especially older ones) will have problems writing to them. The solution is the deactivation of User Account Control (UAC) in the Control Panel (which will also get rid of the need for running as admin).
the problem with the nvidia card should be fixable. post if you want us to investigate.
Huh I noticed that your log says
": OS Version: 6.2.9200 "

I thought the final version of Windows 10 was supposed to report version 10, while the preview version was 6.4
So, that might seem like a silly question, but are you sure your computer is actually running Windows 10? And that's it's a "release" version, not some preview, Windows 8 or Server 2012?

Well... i'm pretty sure it's Win 10. I used the auto-update function from my previous Win 8.1 installation so it shouldn't be a preview. Anyway now that I'm using the integrated gfx card everything is working smoothly. Thank you!

Thanks for the offering but that's not really an issue, I only mind playing the game, really!

Well, I just re-installed Thief 2 in Windows 10 yesterday and it crashes too. Fully update, with the anniversary update.

Setting Thief in compatiblity mode of Windows 8 fixed the issue though.

I also installed Tafferpatcher and al is fine, with better textures

Thanks, installing this did the work for me, without even running it in admin mode
