I have noticed in Thief reviews on this site that people have been complaining that the games are priced too high and you can by the game series pack of all three thief games at other online stores cheaper, this is indeed true, the average price I have seen is £10 but I have seen it as low as £5.

I thought it was worth looking into how good these offers looked and I wasnt surprised to see people were having problems, it seems that to get Thief gold to work on windows 7 will take up alot of your time with numerous settings having to be set and patching up and all this with no guarantee the game will work at all on the 64 bit windows 7.

Continuing to read up I found exactly the same problems with Thief 2 and 3 and came to the conclusion that as the GOG versions of the games work just fine with windows 7 that it was worth paying $9.99 (just over £6) for a game that works out of the box, I mean its not exactly a lot of money even for someone on a budget like myself.

So if you want to part with your hard earned cash on the tripple pack and risk it not working at all then go buy it else where, if you want a game that works straight away then by it from GOG.
I found it worth it, since it installs faster than the original disks... You don't need the original disks, and they are much easier to patch with the fan patches out there....
I got my money's worth in the first three missions, which were tremendous fun, so, the way I see it, I got the other 12 for free.
I would pay original retail price ($40-50) just for the chance to play this game again (w/o having to mess around with all of the settings, which is a PITA). I was glad to pay $10 for it (and T2TMA) which I bought together to save 10% (so really only $9 each).

My son and I are now playing it together. He has experience with T3 (because we have it on Steam) and I wanted him to go through the original 2 games. He "claims" so far it's not scary...ha ha, wait until he gets to the cathedral....
Yeah, hopefully this game works for most people. It may need a little tweaking or you may want it to look better with some mods, but overall GOG seems to have done themselves well. :)

Heh, how old is he? Tell him to run up to the first Haunt he sees and whack it over the head with a sword. That'll go well.
I'm surprised he didn't find the lower mines of Clagscleft or most of Bonehoard a little creepy!

Heh. Yeah. Slip the Ultimate Difficulty cfg in there just before he starts it. THEN see if it isn't scary!

He is 15, and he thinks he is all that. He has not run into the Hammer Haunts yet.

The little bastage laughed at the zombies in Cragscleft. After he plays through "Return to the Cathedral", I'll go in his room at night with a bunch of steel chains...see if he likes that.

I'm not real pro at modding the games, what does this cfg do? (other than increasing difficulty)

It boosts the vision and hearing of guards to almost realistic levels. No more running up behind a guard and womping him over the head with a blackjack, even on grass or carpet. It's hard.

It should be the duty of every loving dad to take his son through the Thief games. + 10 daddy points to you : )
I picked up the collection disc on Amazon for $13. It literally took me no more than 45 seconds after installing all three games to get them ALL working with better graphics and widescreen in Windows 7 64-bit.

EDIT: That's not to say I don't absolutely love GOG -- In this situation, I just think the price was a bit of an issue. If the Thief games were priced at $5.99 each, there's a chance I would have gotten them digitally, which is saying something coming from someone who ALWAYS prefers retail.

Me too I think they're a bit pricey
Thief Gold & Thief II should be sold for $5.99 each or 9.99 the bundle while Thief 3 should be 7.99 at most
Might end up getting the Thief collection from Steam (which is only 6,74 euros) even if I prefer GOG over Steam

I just bought Thief DS on the weekend offer for U$S3.99, an incredible deal. And I did it just to relive the old pleasure this game gave on it's time. Great job, these guys
