What does fogging do? Is it there to limit the view distance? Or is there more to that mysterious option?

the mission itself needs to have fog set up - that means this is only useful for some fan missions.

no, no effect on fps. also, I literally can't imagine a computer that would struggle running TG nowadays - pretty sure you could run it on a windows phone with little trouble.
