My favorite Thief game is Thief 2 The Metal Age. It improves one the first game. It doesn't have the cool yet very annoying zombie levels, has more thief like levels, and a better story. The missions are the best missions in all of the Thief games. Life of the Party (being the best), Trail of Blood, Blackmail, Sabotage at Soulforge. and Ambush are some of the best missions in the game. The other missions are great to but those are the ones that really stand out. I love everything about Thief 2. It outshines Thief 1 and Thief 3. Don't get me wrong I love Thief 1 and Thief 3 but I find myself playing Thief 2 the most. I love the story in Thief 2. The whole thing about Karras creating a new religious group and working with the Sheriff while also attempting to blackmail him. It is clearly the best Thief game.

The best game of the whole series hands down is going to be Thief 4. It has linear level design which is great because I hate getting lost in confusing levels. Stephen Russel is not voicing Garret which is good news because he is getting to old to play the part. Also I hate sneaking around and not killing many people, or able to cheat and see through walls which this game lets me kill everyone as I see them with my super vision powers. Finally, the game is being published by Square Enix meaning nothing can go wrong and thus this will be the best game in the series. :)

YUP! Honestly the best Thief game is #2 for its great focus on thievery and enjoyable story in the game. Thief 1 had a great story but focused way too much of getting mugged in tunnels by dozens of zombies, and Thief 3 brought interesting ideas of game play, but the story is lacking a bit, and the engine did not run well for me that much. Obvious no matter how good the actual game is, Thief 4 with all its faults that I stated in my post is going to be the worst of the series for that reason alone.
