Guessing you worked it out between now and 2011 BUT for those who didn't (took me a while) here goes. While playing you need to put your cursor up to the top of the screen and click. A 'secret' menu with a save option appears.

Yes our beloved Mac version had improved graphics AND a more obvious menu. I remember why I din't use DOS back in the bad old days.
