I bought Theme Hospital 3 hours ago. I downloaded it with the GOG downloader, installed it, and ran the shortcut. It then started up with a cutscene, which froze within the first second, but "luckily" I was able to skip it. Afterwards the "Welcoming screen" with the doctor wielding the chainsaw appears, and as I recall from earlier experience, is the point where you have to type in your user name. that doesn't appear, but yet again I was able to "skip" it by pressing escape. the next screen that appears is the small cutscene - intro to the menu of the game ( With the professor in front of a blackboard) but this cutscene is also frozen. When I try to skip the cutscene the game shuts down. after that nothing happens I am using a HP laptop, Windows 7 32-bit with a Intel core i3 CPU 2.27 GHZ processor and an "Iron lake" HD graphics please help :) Regards, Atropels.

It worked! :D Tyvm, now I can enjoy hours of building up imaginary hospitals and curing people with ridiculous diseases, like unwanted invisibility and a "slack-tongue" or "The king virus"
Hiya,

I bought this game a while back, never got it to work. goes to the screen with the doctor yielding chainsaw and asking for usename. What username?? when i hit esc the game shuts down. I tried changing display settings but no joy.

Anyone got some advice please?
Err, just write a name? Think it needs to be the same each time you start the game for "Continue game" to work, but not 100% on that.

I was playing for hours, and then suddenly the mouse was stuck on the left side of the screen, and the screen scrolled all the way to the left. What gives? Couldn't save or anything as I couldn't move the mouse over there. Just had to Control Alt Delete out of there and quit the application.

Is this a common problem? First time I've seen it, and I've played at least 5 hours combined now.

I have the exact same problem as atropels, could you elaborate more on what you mean by switching the graphics mode?

Here's how:
Open start menu, go to All Programs.
Then, navigate to GOG.com\Theme Hospital. There will be an option there marked "Graphic mode setup". Pick that, and choose an alternative from the dropdown. I use OpenGLnb, and it works perfectly for me.

Hope this helps!
Sorry, doesn't work for me! The graphics mode setup (run in Admin mode) simply tells me the game is not installed. I tried installing again under Admin mode in the C:\GOG\Theme Hospital folder but nothing changed. I keep getting the error message.

You need to run the shortcut that was placed in the Start menu, not simply double-click from within the folder. The shortcut contains other parameters that the setup program needs, so that it knows which game it's changing the options for.

So, in my case, the shortcut in the start menu points to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Theme Hospital\Graphic mode setup.exe" GOGTHEMEHOSPITAL

In your case, if the start menu shortcut isn't already there, you can make another shortcut on the desktop that ought to work. Going by the folder you mentioned, copy and paste the following line (including quotation marks) into the location box:

"C:\GOG\Theme Hospital\Graphic mode setup.exe" GOGTHEMEHOSPITAL
Thanks! Worked like a charm!

That was a common issue in the original retail-cd version as well, mostly you'd be able to kinda shake the cursor loose from the left side of the screen, but sometimes you just had to restart. The game autosaves quite often, so you'd be able to reload an autosave (Game 8 in the save-tab) and continue.

In the Gog-version, it usually helps to alt-tab out of the game and then click on the game window and alt-enter it back to fullscreen.
