Hey, guy! I'm truly desperate to stop this damned problem. If I take more than a few steps Gerault just keeps running full tilt in random directions and is unstoppable. I've lost track of of how fights I've lost or the number of cliffs I've gone full steam over and died since the PC just does what ever it feels like. I really like the game so far but I'm about to quit if this doesn't stop! The only solution I've found is to toggle the walk only function , but obviously that isn't a cure since the world is so big. Even this rarely works. My rig is a hyped-out Alienware with top notch cards, RAM, etc, so thats not the issue.
Any help would hugely appreciated!!!

Use the alternative movement mode (need at least patch 1.07).

thekersy100: disable the galaxy overlay, then run the verify/repair option
Looked around after shutting down the GOG Galaxy window but couldn't find the verify/repair option in any of the game's menu. Where should I look? BTW running the 1.31 version of W3. Thanks in advance!

Was already set as the alternate mode while playing. Changed to Standard and it didn't make a difference with the 1.31 version I'm running. Any other ideas?

If the alternative movement mode doesn't work for you then your problem is that you are running (or sprinting) everywhere. In appropriate situations (like fighting or mountainous regions) you should toggle to walk -- run/sprint when appropriate not otherwise. If you have to get around quickly, use the horse.
My guess is, your keyboard is super high-tech, as well. I bet it's a mechanical one.
Most probably it is using the "used button memory", to automatically double tap the W button. That makes Geralt sprint if you have modified the key bindings. Else, it might automaticaly use the SHIFT button, whenever you press W. You have to search your keyboard manual to disable that function or a similar one, or change your key bindings. Hope this helps.

No, not a fancy keyboard by any stretch of the imagination. Same old basic Logitech I've had for years. I've tried resetting the bindings as well. Same results. Sadly, now the horse is doing the same thing and in fights G will swing the sword a dozen times before giving control back. Never had this problem with W1 or W2. What does "lock/unlock bindings" do?
Finally started to work right so far!!!
Shout out to all that set in suggestions, THANKS ALL! I've absolutely fallen in love with this version of G's adventure and look forward to finally being able to kick ass and not dying ever 20 minutes.
Special thanks to thekersy100... yours was the solution!
