That's right; have also still getting the same error message (despite patch v1. 04). I've currently uninstalled the game.

jirok: OK, and I can not install the NVIDIA drivers 352.86 as I have 'only' a GeForce 9500 GT. But people, thus I play Rome 2 and Attila; although not in all its splendour, but anyway. So let's not hang me in The Witcher III! Thx.

System:
- Windows 7 Home Premium - 64bit (Service Pack 1), German
- AMD Processor FX-6300 Six-Core-Processor - 3.50 GHz, RAM: 8 GB
- GeForce 9500 GT, Nvidia-Driver-Version: 341.44, DirectX-Runtime-Version 11.0, (no Nvidia Experience installed), Resolution: 1920 x 1200
- DxDiag 6.01.7601.17514 64-Bit-Version (display, sound 1, sound 2, input - no problems)
Sorry. No Support for Systems that does *not* reach the minimum PC Requirements. Thats waste of time.
The Requirements were set a way before release AND they are provided on the box! Dont buy it then, ask before!
-----

If the game dont start with overclocked (also overclocked defaults by vendor), first check if it is really stable with benchmarks like Valley or Heaven. With AMD CCC / MSI Afterburner or vendor sofware you can downclock your GPU for example.

Game runs fine on my "more" overclocked default overclocked R9 290 (Asus R9 290 DirectCU II OC)

Nothing in this world is a waste of time; otherwise, there is also no The Witcher. ;)

Thank you for your advice 'Dont buy it then, ask before!', but when The Witcher 3 does not support systems below the 'recommended' hardware specifications, then just not.
Unfortunately I could not help me to buy The Witcher 3; on the one hand because I already played the two predecessors, partly because I wanted to support the good work of CD project.

However I'm currently me, so the next two months, due to the introduction of the AMD R300-series, buy a new graphics card. Let's see what I can get then; a cheap R9 290 (ASUS R9 290 DirectCU II OC) would be a nice bargain. Have fun. ;)

Hi there, I've found a SOLUTION for my crippled notebook, to start game without crash :D

Specs:
Intel Core i5-2520 CPU 2.5 GHz
4GB RAM
Intel Graphics HD 3000

SOLUTION:

its possible to run dx11 game on dx10 graphics card
you have to download the Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 or Windows 8 and you have to install this on your pc

after installing this you have to search the dxcpl.exe from your windows searchbox
in dxcpl.exe you have to add witcher3.exe (edit list --> add --> your directory to witcher3.exe)
below, activate the "force WARP" and set the level 11_1

after that, I was able launch and start the game

jirok: thx Demo1986,

this may be true on my graphics card, but why have other players with a GTX970 or GTX960 the same error message?

I think the problem (Crash reason: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION) lies elsewhere.
actualy those are they compatible dx11 or not , if they are not .. then the dx11 theory is dead
Will we ever get a fix for this? The game runs pretty flawless for hours, until I start (re-)loading savegames or use fast travel. That's when the crashes happen.

I'm pretty confident that I've traced my crashes back to Galaxy. That's because it didn't crash at all when I started the game directly through the .exe.

Yes! This fixed my crash on startup problem, too. ^_^ Thank you!
Now i get a clean and understandable error message from the game - I need a DX11 grapgic card. ;)

... if you have a problem during the installation of "SDK for Windows 7" ,e.g. the installation abort with "Installation Failed" -> then deinstall "Visual Studio 2010" on your computer! (more ...)
... only "dxcpl.exe" works fine; "dxcpl_x86.exe" and "dxcpl_x64.exe" have not work for me! (... for more help looks also on "youtube" -> keyword "dxcpl.exe")

ps. of course, my graphic card is also too weak for The Witcher 3. ;))

fun
