I have no complaints or anything negative to report so far. It is probably going to take me a lifetime to ever finish since there are two expansions not just one that are coming our way.

I am a devoted Elder Scrolls player and this, for me, is more amazing that any of the ES line.

Should there be a new hero. Nope!! this is a game, not real life, no one has to age unless some magic spell poofs them away.

My thanks for creating this game. The voices are perfect, the graphics are amazing! Music is fantastic and fits with the surrounding graphics. The play is never ending as you all know and you can make it simple or turn over rocks to find something.

Thanks! am a very sleepy and happy player

I thought witcher 2 was the best game ever. Until witcher 3 came out. Best game ever.
yup hands down, personally finished two playthroughs and just waiting for the game to be stabilized and get the first expansion
I agree its a great game. Finally put 40 something hours into the first Witcher late last year and early this year. Never finished it but I finally got the hang of it after a few timid tries years ago. Its a very good, old school gaming experience.

I loved Witcher 2. I played it off and on but it wasn't until GOG came out with their free, DRM and enhanced version of the game free to those who previously owned it for me to finally really get into it. W2 is where I learned the most of what the series and lore was about. Almost finished the game going the Vernon Roche path but my pc got struck by lighting so I had to start again. I said to myself that I would only play through Flotsam again because I loved that level and then I would load up my last save game previous to the lightning strike and finish it before Witcher 3. But alas, I got lost in it so much again, that I decided just to keep on playing and make some different choices to see what would happen knowing I had something previously played that I could compare it to. So I then finished the game going the Scoeitel route.

I love Witcher 3 like you all. Its an amazingly gorgeous game with graphics that just "feel" organic to me and it has very good gameplay and an extremely interesting universe, lore and stories.

I don't think I have a way of knowing how many hours I have in it now but I'd have to say I'm at least at 30 hours if not more and I haven't even visited Skellige yet and I'm only just now at level 14.

I put in around 100 hours of TOS:Skyrim a few years back, and decided to load it back up recently and start a new game to see if the magic was still there. Playing for around 30 minutes, I instantly removed it from my PC.

I don't think I will ever be able to play another Bethesda RPG (Fallout NV is sitting stagnant in my library, Fallout 4 gets me about as excited as a bout of diarrhea) after playing the Witcher and Dark Souls games. Not saying Bethesda games are bad or anything (since millions get enjoyment from them), but I enjoy games with a bit more depth and imagination.

If there is one thing I really missed from the Witcher 3, it was a desert environment. Some of my favorite parts of RPG's were the desert environments like in Diablo 2 and Torchlight 2 (there was even one screenshot of Geralt killing a bug in a desert that had me psyched, but it never seemed to make it into the game).

Glad there is still a developer willing to take a chance and try new things!

The Witcher 1 was one game in a long time that I played from start to finish without interruption from other games! Really liked it.

Eh. I am in a sort of love hate relationship with Bethesda. Fallout 4 looks inferior to W3, to put it mildly, and I have always criticized Bethesda games for their childish and undeveloped characters/story, but I undoubtedly will still be buying Fallout 4 at some point.... I guess I just like the exploration too much? The modding? I want an rpg and there aren't any others to be had? I don't know.
I really like the game.

Well, to be fair Fallout is a completely different game to W3 other than the fact it is an RPG. I finished Fallout 3 years ago (the only Fallout game I have completed) and enjoyed it. Booting up NV felt like more of the same, so I kinda just petered out. I think after playing Oblivion and Skyrim and Fallout 3 for way too many hours all Bethesda games just kind of merged into one for me. I think I could call this the "Call of Duty" syndrome, just more of the same.

I guess I am kinda weird that way, I like being taken out of my element and given new things to tinker with and new challenges. Most people like to be kept safe in their comfort zone, which of course is fine, who am I to judge!
Personally, I like variety.

I agree with you that the somewhat open world RPG landscape is kind of sparse after W3, so Fallout 4 may be the only thing for most people to fill that void. Luckily for me, I have a bunch of older game to finish which should keep me going for at least a year or two (I have not even finished the W3 once yet, so there is that too!)

lol you must be a noob to the game...give it a few weeks when you find out the game is too unbalanced to do anything BUT roll and quick attack making the combat utterly terrible and kiddy like...magic tier 4 is worthless to sink points into and again unbalanced...meaning more just one shot tier 1/2 magic shots and more rolling and quick attacking...so unalanced strong attacks...unbalanced crossbow attacks..parrying doesnt work...looting is terrilble and drops loot to 4 levels below your character on all missions and boxes making all loot worthless...crafting is pretty pointless. Not to mention the constant FLURRY of bugs you'll start running into where this quest cant complete, that quest cant complete, I just got done with the game and had no failed quests yet due to another bug it failed "reasons of state" due to a another coding error. You'll get achievements that wont unlock that was suppose to be fixed in 1.08 (there not and according to tech team "being looked into still"). So ya if you like doing the same attack move, rolling for defense, and tier 1 magic throughout 3 land masses with 100's of ? marks as fillers to roll/quick attack through then by all means...to me this games only a 6/10. Story is all iit had going...should of did a better combat/magic/looting system and worked on the 100's of bugs prior to launch. Def. not the masterpiece to seasoned RPG players...maybed to the under 20 year olds new/used to these kind of watered down kiddy games.

Yup, Bethesda's RPGs are fairly unique amongst all other open world games, there's nothing quite like them. Which is one of the reasons why they get away with their iterative nature - nobody else does what Bethesda does and if they broke their formula, they'd probably not stand out any longer (hello, TES: Online)

Personally I'd kill for W3 to just not be open world, be like 60 hours long to 100% instead of the ridiculous 200, and only offer us quality content instead of all the filler you need to go trough if you want to see everything. With how expensive creating big, open world games is, saved money could go towards proper balance and even better combat system.

Yeah, very different types of games. I ended up like F:NV better than F3, because F:NV was closer to the old fallout games in story (Obsidian wrote it). Bethesda hasn't written a decent story since Morrowind.

There's Shadowrun Returns: Hong Kong coming out, at least (Aug 20th I think). I recommend the Shadowrun Returns series if you haven't played it yet. Little rough around the edges, but the writing is top notch and the world lore/character drawings/old school environment graphics are intriguing.
This game is awesome.

Combat gets unbalanced towards level 16, as well noted by many other people. Combat is not a primary reason for me to play though, so it didn't bother me that much. I also don't mind steamrolling things a bit especially considering the game soaks up so much time already.

What, pray tell, is one of these godlike games of yore you are referring to? Serious question. I'm 30, btw, so please keep the old man elitism to a minimum.

In other words, you would kill for W3 to be W2. : ) I didn't like the story as much in W3, but I think I might like W3 overall more than W2. Time will tell how I feel about it in the long run.

And DLC for Pillars of Eternity comes out 25th! Last two years were an exciting time for RPGs.

Not aimed at me, but I will butt in anyway and say that design-wise, even the already mentioned Elder Scrolls games are far better at being open world RPGs than Witcher 3 is.

Yes, because with W1 and W2, CD Project RED made some of the best semi-linear RPGs I have ever played, going into extremes to make your decisions matter very much in W2. While playing W3, all I see is relatively competent open world RPG with excellent writing, aestetics and storytelling. With that in mind, it would shine a lot more if it were more controlled experience, at least I believe so. With its writing, characters and story, being liner, it would probably become my RPG of this year, and probably even a bunch years before that. As it stands, title is firmly held by Pillars of Eternity.
It is indeed, most likely will be my game of the year.
