I did a search for this topic and most people seem to want to play their GOG copy of Witcher 3 on Steam, but what I'm actually wondering is if I'll ever be able to transfer my Witcher 3 license from Steam to GOG? I have the full game plus all DLCs and thought it'd be cool if I could add it to my GOG collection since that's where I own the first two games

Maybe it's a meaningless thing but with the game importing from Steam feature I thought it was weird Witcher 3 wasn't added to my library.

No.
Could we put The witcher 3 Wild Hunt Steam to GOG, i think that´s in everyone´s interest, isn´t it?
Because someone bought DLCs and now he can´t play.
So that would be very nice, Everyone likes this game...

Not going to happen. They're rival platforms.

It's not like it's completely unheard of, not only have they been doing GOG Connect for some time, but even before GOG Connect there was (and it's still available) The Witcher Backup: https://www.gog.com/witcher/backup If you have the CD ROMs, or even the CD keys from your Steam versions, you can get both Witcher and Witcher 2 added to your GOG library.

I'd assume Witcher 3 will someday, eventually, be added to The Witcher Backup program, or offered on GOG Connect. I wouldn't think it would happen while the game is still most definitely selling, but it's been almost 5 years now. Perhaps in the next couple of years, maybe after CP77 is the new hotness stealing W3s thunder.

That's not what the poster was asking. Besides, since when do Steam games need cd keys?

well, there is indeed an activation key in steam, The Witcher 1 and 2 have it, and you can use it on gog to have another copy of the game in gog, there are some games that durinng the installation process that requires activation keys, so, that's why, and to answer the original question of this post, as far as I know that just work from steam to gog, not backwards
