Simple question, is the game win10 ready??
As general advice I'd be very careful to use an OS at the release.

"Works on: 64-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 8 (8.1)"
no info about this from gog or cdr?
I'm more interested if it has/will have any performance increase in Windows 10. Guess that will answer the OP's question also.
The OS is not ready and you wonder if the game is ready? :P Wait for the 1st Service Pack, then we will talk.
Check out this forum thread for community efforts at a compatibility list. GOG are also busy in the background doing their own checks. The Witcher (all titles) appear to be compatible.
Something tells me that Win 10 will have a built in compatibility feature in case anything goes wrong. I still play many games from Win 7 on Win 8.1 and do not see any issues. I think we will be fine.

Thanks all for reply, when its arrived, i will gladly try out and report back
Playing W3 on Windows 10 64bit since the release of the game. No problems, but I'm not sure I have performance boosts. If we will ever get some patch with DirectX 12, it'll be for new effects only, so the game won't run any better from DX12.

No but it will work on windows 10. Current W3 is designed to run on windows 7 and 8. Maybe down the road Cdprojekts will make a patch compatible for windows 10 Directx 12 features when its released. I've asked cdprojekts this month before the release of w3 but didn't get an answer.

Good to here, have reserved a copy but it doesn't release in Australia till 29/07

I thought Windows 10 and DX12 were supposed to provide a huge boost to PC performance, is that not true?

The store game page and the CDPR website both list what operating systems are supported by the game. WIndows 10 is not listed but then Windows 10 does not yet exist either. Presumably they wont consider listing the OS as supported until it is out, enough people are using it to bother, and they feel it is stable enough to support. There's a reasonably good chance they'll do that at some point but I wouldn't expect them to announce it as supported right now nor commit to it as it's a big unknown at this point. WIndows 8 and then 8.1 both came out a long time ago now and still 50% of all gamers are using Windows 7 and Windows 8+8.1 are small beans in the grand scheme of things.

There's another thing to consider too and that is that nobody likes hearing "not supported". Dead silence despite being annoying to some people is often less uncomfortable than being told "sorry, unsupported" because the silence has within it an air of hope and suspense fills the air.

I'd be surprised if they don't claim Windows 10 compatibility and support some time in the future though, but not until after it is released. Right now they have much more important things to work on though such as fixing the various bugs in the game that affect current gamers on operating systems that actually exist right now and have people experiencing problems. Fixing problems for supported systems definitely trumps adding support for new systems in my eyes. :) Then there's also the fact that they have 2 new major expansion packs coming out in Nov and 1st Q of 2016 which will be a big priority.

So I expect them to announce Windows 10 support at some point, but my gut tells me it will magically show up as a claim on the site system recommendations data some day and not on CNN.com breaking news. :)

DX12 will only improve performance of games that are architected to use DX12. Games that use DX11 wont see any performance difference because they wont use DX12. Once Windows 10 ships, I suspect the list of games that support DX12 will be quite small for some time and I doubt many existing games will put out patches to support it. More likely will be that new games coming out over the year+ after that will start supporting DX12, while a small handful of current games might support it now in beta or might have been designed in anticipation and end up using it.

No idea of The Witcher 3 was designed to be able to use DX12 also or not although that'd be nice for Windows 10 users for sure.

I'll add my two sense as someone playing exclusively on the Windows 10 Technical Preview. I have had no issues that are unique to the operating system. For this title I did not even have to enable compatibility mode. Performance has been stellar. I get about one crash every ~10 hours of gameplay, but I believe that to be the fault of slightly inadequate CPU cooling. Drivers for Windows 10 have also been released and 352.84 is WHQL certified. Personally, I've had no issues, so I thought I'd let you know! Obviously the OS is still unfinished and you might come upon unique problems. As for the DX questions, Witcher 3 does currently run DX11 on Windows 10, which I think is to be expexted considering the OS has not been released.

Hopefully that info helps you make a decision one way or the other!
Right, the game uses DX11. I read some rumors about some DX 12 patch much later in the future, but I believe they're fake and that there'll be no DX12 version. It takes too much work.

And, if there'll ever be a patch, it'll only be for some graphic effect. No better performance.
