This is the first game I've gotten from GoG, and I was wanting to locate the .exe file for the game.

I downloaded the game through GoG Galaxy, and went to the location provided in the "Show Folder" tab. However, there isn't the .exe in there, only config files. I'm using Windows 8.1, and explored through the Start Menu programs, and found both locations of the game, but neither of which point to anything useful. The closest is under "The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt [GOG.com]", but when I pinned that to the Taskbar, the only source it gave me was to the executable for Galaxy.

Do they have all of these games hyper locked down inside the Galaxy client?

All I'm trying to do is to add it to Steam so I can still chat and open internet windows without minimizing the game in full screen mode.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64\witcher3.exe

Bin is short for binary and it is somewhat common for games to put their exe in there, and x64 means the 64bit binary.

The exe is in a sub-folder of the game installation folder, "bin\ x64\ witcher3.exe"

Do you have the original retail box version? If I remember correctly that was actually missing the exe until you redeemed it with the GOG site. There should have been instructions on how to do that with the game.

What is the issue again? Can you explain better what you already have what happened? The only way to download the game from GOG.com, is either redeeming a retail code, or making an e-purchase from the GOG.com store. In both cases, the .exe should be there.
I usually punch people like Hickory, but the geographical distance does not permit me to do so. The fact that I am a grown up is why I state it, trying to have a civilized conversation, first and punch later.
